TIZ urges PF govt to prosecute corrupt leaders

TIZ urges PF govt to prosecute corrupt leaders

Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) has implored the Patriotic Front government to ensure that all former leaders and civil servants in the previous government involved in abuse of office are brought to book.

TIZ Executive Director Goodwell Lungu says the former ruling government is on record for not committing itself to the fight against corruption.

Mr. Lungu says former republican president Rupiah Banda was a big disappointment in the fight against corruption as he openly abandoned the fight against graft.

Speaking in an interview, Mr. Lungu says all involved in abuse of public resources during the elections should be made to account.

Mr. Lungu has since appealed to the new PF government not to make the same mistake that was made by the MMD government of tolerating corruption openly.

The TIZ executive director has also congratulated Zambians for providing an alternative government.

Come on friends, it is a musical chair game in Africa. They are all naked in sauna.

If PF government is really serious, they shall release all those who have been behind bars for petty crimes and set up special courts to prosecute all those who stole big way from the treasury and involved in money laundering activities. This includes politicians, civil servants and private citizens.

There is a long list, but pick the top 10 and send the right signal. Rest can be followed by law enforcement agencies. Prosecute and get judgments within 3 months. No excuses for postponements, no political interference, no exchange of monies (more corruption) and above all no selective prosecution (especially those who funded PF campaigns shall not be spared, if involved in shoddy deals, that will be the most significant signal to civil servants and private business tycoons to sit up and abide by the law of the land and let opportunities open up for all and sundries and cornered by Kwacha/Dollar power).
    But, will it happen?

  12. correctZ   September 24, 2011 at 11:48 am

let me take this opportunity to congraturate H.E M.C. SATA for his landslide victory…. The man has shown the world that he is a strong MAN.
I would want him to bring sanity in all grz dept. Especially in health sector.
Civil servants must be mortivated to work extra hard. They must be rated on perfomance so that incase one is not perfoming acodingly shud be fired or some sort.
I dont like the atitude of some health workers in some clinics. We expect sata to clean the mess mmd has left and move forwad. Zambians deserves better… Twachula pafula

Bane if Finance Bank has to be given back to Mahtani the worst criminal, think about us Zambians and our nonon contributory pension fund that he stole from Finance Bank thru his Leasing Finance Company in 1994. He had to forge with his secretary two guarantees purpotedly issued by the Bank when in fact not. Ba tumfweko help the poor Zambian workers get this money as even Dec and levy and rb knew about this case but chose to ignore at the end of it all

Investigate the procurement of fertilizer by Nyiombo/Omnia and govt. Someone has been getting a big cat for the last five years. Bring the culprits to justice in this new govt.
If the procurement was transparent, govt would have reduced the cost by over 30%.

  27. Patrick mwanza   September 24, 2011 at 7:52 pm

May I congratulate H.E Sata 4 winning the elections. Its my appeal to my fellow Zambians to be surportive. R B you are one out of the fomer presidents to have shown such good example during the hand over power. Even the words u used (Wangena mu jele manje mzanga) you are now in jail my friend. No freedom of movements. To the president, I was happy in the way you cared for the old man (KK) on the platform. Thats the spirit we need. You,re going to live longer our president.

What we need is a National Indaba (this can be online 2 take into a/c de Diaspora), where we address all our concerns and let the top 10 be included in the 2012 Action Plan 4 de PF Govt. Second we need 2 delink politics from being into so many things, markets, Bus stops, tenders, parastatals, land allocation, business, football.

Am proposing relocation of Ministry of Lands 2 remote town 2 reduce on abuse of land. Foreigners even hav de audacity 2 walk into m/lungushi hse 2 pic Titles! Ministry of Tourism 2 relocate 2 Mfuwe or L/stone. Ministry of Mines 2 Kitwe, Agric Ministry 2 Mkushi. In short decentralisation! Power is concentrated in LSK, hence O sorts of illegal activities due 2 proximity with decision makers. Passport Office also 2 relocate 2 a remote area. If we cut down face 2 face interactions, corruption will reduce drastically as people can not hav an opportunity 2 solicit a bribe.

Civil servants R just as corrupt as Politicians. We need a truth commission. Those who confess can B given lighter sentences. Those who don’t 2 B given maximum sentences. Annual declerations of assets and net income 2 B made by O public officers. All Public officers 2 take a corruption awareness test annualy.

We also need all Cities & major Towns 2 hav a development plan tailored 2 their local needs. All shanty towns 2 B given improvement plans. New towns 2 B built like @ Lumwana, Kansanshi. No new settlements must B allowed in LSK. Instead we need sattelite towns 50 Km from LSK linked by tram/rail. Our Capital has 2 B among de dirtiest, most congested & ill planned. I think I need an audience wit my PF MP & outline my proposals wit him. Lots of hardwork ahead 4 our Working Government!

congrats kuli bashikulu for being Vigilant to the ways of MMD’s machinations.Shikulu BaSata mwabombeni.
the masses of people who voted for PF want sanity in the country .Passport office,National Registration Office,Hospitals,Kumasukulu kwaba amangalo namaifisakanwa.the Prez and his adminstration have to move in quickly.lets not forget ZNBC with their mediocre ways.
Its not about retribution, but the masses are demanding for Justice.rememeber RP Capital,Dora,James Middleman Banda,Caleb Fundanga,Mutati? these chaps facilitated the swindles that we are crying about.
i hope and pray BaShikulu hears our pleas and not do what Levy did pantu we now know how the Egyptians felt in Tahrir Square.we will back you all the way Prez Sata.let ACC do some honest work for once.

  32. Likezo   September 25, 2011 at 11:44 am

We shud not 4get CEO of Parastatals like Zambia Postal Services Corporation where the man was seeing around the country with MMD cadres @ the expense of the corporation, he has really abused the company by renovating the house which was okey @ an amount of about K2Billion and he also bought himself the car which costs about K800 Million, meanwhile the workers are toiling hard and only him is bennefiting, what do u get from a company which has Jazzman Chikwakwa as Board Chairman who was a cadre to MMD. We are demanding for justice Investigate these parastatle CEO as well they are ones who where funding Rupiah

  33. MAIKO   September 25, 2011 at 12:15 pm

SURE WE NEED SANITY IF PEOPLE ARE GOING TO SEE THE DIFFERENCE CORRUPTION MUST BE STOPPED.ZAMTEL SAGA, NATIONAL AIRPORTS CORP, FINANCE BANK. THE SALE OF THESE COMPANIES MUST BE REVERSED OR ELSE WE WILL NOT DEMOCRATICALLY ESTATE TO VOTE OUT SATA.

  34. PNL   September 25, 2011 at 3:04 pm

Sure Goodwell. That is the premises for which this change has come. Now the truth about RP capital, Zamtel Finance Bank will be known.

This time around Zambians need a speedy and expeditious judicial system. No more fake medical adjournment. Some of those unseasoned High court Judges need be investigated. There must have been something behind their giving such ourageous rulings such as the FTJ acquital, Registration of the london ruling, The turning of the tribunal ruling by a single Judge…. so many open ‘theft ruling’. That is the only way to put money in people’s pockets.

provincial agricultural coodinator for luapula province odineya chisala should be uprooted or she shud just resign on moral grounds. she is an mmd cadre and was campaigning openly even using abusive language to the prsident.
