Villagers Defend Refugee MP

Mulilafunda villagers stormed Kaoma Magistrate Court when newly elected Member of Parliament, for Mangango Constituency in Kaoma District, Robert Taundi Chiseke appeared in the court on Wednesday 12th October 2011 to face charges.

Chiseke who was in custody arrived at court under heavy security. He was later joined by his lawyer, Hobday Kabwe from Hobday Kabwe & Co, and Chiseke’s father, who was openly showing his green National Registration Card (NRC).

Chief Mutondo of the Nkoya people, who also presides over smaller tribes including the Chokwe people in whose jurisdiction Mangango Constituency falls, sent a high powered delegation of villagers headed by Headman Matanda.

Outside court, the villagers sang songs demanding to be deported to Angola.

Chiseke is facing two counts;

Under the National Registration Act, the State is accusing Chiseke of giving false information to a public officer when he was obtaining an NRC in 1978 contrary section 13, 1 (c).

Chiseke is also accused of also obtaining a green NRC under false pretences contrary to the penal code.

The Kaoma Magistrate gave Chiseke court bail with two working sureties. Chiseke attended the opening of the First Session of Eleventh National Assembly on Friday.

If the guy really obtained his NRC under false pretenses, then he surely deserves to be brought to book. We cant afford having foreigners unlawfully getting Zambian status. We have proper procedures for change of Nationality.
I hope this case does not end up being an acquital or a witch hunt….

Nkoyas will never support refegee MP. Invistigate village registers. Even his father must be picked for unlawful possession of NRC.

They cannot pack and go. Why protest for deportation. Zambia has been over kind to refugees, now the are even protesting, showing off. They know that many of them will either be locked up or run away. President Sata clean Kaoma.

The people in Kaoma know the syndicate of Mayukwayukwa refugees bribing MMD Mnunda and Luvale politicians for NRCs. Lozis and Nkoyas have been complaining about this matter.

Please do not be tribal, this problem is very serious, because the MMD wanted to stay in power the have made or converted foreigners into zambian so that it should had more votes. This is not only in kaoma but also in eastern,Luapula and northern.
This should be widely investigated. If Congolise in kanyama could be allowed to be chairman of MMD what will prevent that refugee to stand as MP

Its a shame that the Barotse Royal establishment (BRE) is mute over this issue. the chokwe are one of the more than 28 tribes of barotseland. we cant afford having our own brothers beiong labeled refuges. No wonder we are breaking away from Zambia very soon. we cant belong to this tribal country anymore. Bundas, Luvales, chokwes, Kalundas, have strong ties with Angola but came into barotseland in the 1800 during the regn of Litunga Mulambwa. SATA and PF who were just born yestarday cannot determine our nationality as barotses. to hell

Ba Khinakho, you speak like u’re in the same boots, lying against the law is an offence, the government is not saying he’sn’t Zambian, but it is about NRC details against his background. And maybe, sorry to say this, his sympathisers are blind and ‘primitive’ about Zambian laws. The pa flashed a green NRC, read GBX MACHINE’s posting above !

@Khinako.Spot on.Let RB rule the rest of Zambia with his cleansing and we the people of Barotseland will determine who belongs to our nation.
Even Lewanika on return from exile in Mashi brought more so-called foreigners to settle in barotseland.
Handle this matter with care as it may be the tip of an iceberg and undo the PF.

Truth is there are many mbunda, chokwe, luchazi and luvale zambians. But it is very true that zambia’s secutity has been compromised by thousands of refugees from these tibes posing to be zambians. real zambians worth their true citizeship must coorperate with the police to bring order to kaoma and where ever such a problem has been identified. Zambia for zambians. Europe and America have become very strict with migration rules to sort out terrorism. so police keep the good work going.

Problem starts with our NRC issuing authorities…..more intensive background checks need to be made/done b4 issuing a reg. Where on earth is our so called intelligence or national security wing? Does it honestly have to take our head of state to pinpoint such matters?….I agree with Mann, Lumwana……background checks are the issue..also lying under oath….the way I know ba kateka ba Sata, he always has backup/evidence when he brings up an issue. Let the courts decide this mans fate, fairly!
