Muammar Gaddafi was three times as rich as Carlos Slim and ten times richer than King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia — easily the richest man in the world.
Gaddafi was supposedly worth over $200 billion with assets in bank accounts, real estate and corporate investments around the world. This staggering new estimate comes from senior Libyan officials and seems to be legitimate, according to the LA Times.
How did he get so rich? “King of Kings” Gaddafi had uncontested personal control over the largest oil reserves in Africa for the past 41 years. Unlike Abdullah and other oil-rich leaders, Gaddafi invested little money in national infrastructure like schools and hospitals or any kind of economic diversification. What money Gaddafi did spend went largely to buy support from African leaders.
While much of this money was held by government institutions like the Central Bank of Libya and the Libyan Investment Authority, Gaddafi was able to withdraw money at will. Agencies

Gaddafi said he would remain and die in Libya. He did just that. It’s not like he did not have an exit plan, he actually planned to REMAIN AND DIE in Libya.

Gadaffi died a heroe,he could not abandone his people and he simply died for that.Gadaffi was muderd coz he was a threat to the western world, the western world can not do without Africa and thats why they are remotly colonising us.Oil is the main issue here (amafuta). It will take a lot of uniting and blood shed for africa to be independent and thats why our fellow zimbabwans have gone thru agony, coz their leader stands firmly and hence the sanctions. They are now killing anyone proving to be smart than them, that was mudder…we need to work up.

GonZallez – Firstly your English is so bad please go back to school. Gaddafi a hero? He was a pychotic despot who deserved what he go, a murdering bast**d. How can you support Mugabe when his own people are starving whilst his wife plunders Zimbabwe’s wealth. It’s idiots like you who give Africans a bad name.

what shall it profit man to own the entire world and later lose his life?the issue of the second coming of the son of man is real and this time not coming as a saviour but a judge and man shall be judged according to deeds.the killing of the three african leaders who took the law in there hands is a great lesson to the world at large, the world belong to God man is here as a visitor and not to stay permanent.we should have respect for human kind and dont take things for granted simply because you are super powers with alot of money.for me money is yours but i deserve respect and dont condon to be mistreated at all cost

Back to the BIBLE teaching in Eccl. God makes a fool toil for his wealth and only to be given to those God choses.
Same for all fools: Kafupi, Mobutu, Gaddafi, etc

Qaddafi was selfless. His only problem was that he thought he was the only selfless leader in the whole of Libya. Had he allowed change of power, he could have left a good legacy. Now he thought he was the saviour of Libya and any other leader would lead Libya to ruins according to him. African leaders must learn from this by not thinking they are the saviours of their countries. There is only one saviour Jesus Christ.

think wisely before u make judgment, who was Gaddafi, how did he ascend to power, how did he treat his people, why those free everything? critically analyse the trend and then find the answer to this puzzle, why was he resisting the demand of the people? the west may be interested in that oil but why do african leaders want to stay on to power when change is demanded? it is because they do not work for the people but for themselves. Gaddath wanted to be killed because he had dirty hands which he did not want other people to know. learn to be leader not a boss or colonel.

Gaddafi really did great for his country. from what i think, Gaddafi worked harder than any other African president but it’s unfortunate that he started well but ended up poorly.

GADDAFI DID A LOT FOR HIS COUNTRY,OF COURSE HE WAS HUMAN, HE MADE SOME MISTAKES IN CERTAIN AREAS. IN THE END HE DECIDED TO BE A DEAD HERO THAN A LIVING COWARD.WHAT EVER WISE PEOPLE LIKE MAMBWE WOULD SAY OIL IS STILL THE ISSUE.

Sad – and to be put in a meat storage, ine I feel sorry and wonder if any more meat will ever be stored there again. I remember reading somewhere that he is the one who gave us those green uniforms for our prisoners, is that right?? But all the same rich or poor, we all end up the same way, our souls are gone long before we are buried, so whether put in a gold casket and buried in some beautiful park or in a straw mat and thrown away in some desert, we either go to heaven or hell and nobody has yet come back to tell us who is where, etc. RIP ba Sir.

And now there will be democracy, gone are the freebies like no interest-free electricity etc.
the wealth of the country will go to the worlds 1%
and the people of Libia will be taxed to the hilt
to rebuilt their country and never will see a penny of their countrys wealth

now you see how wealth can be wasted? such huge amounts of money could have benefited a lot of vulnerable children and even the poor in need. he kept all the money to himself, what for?
gaddafi has died a very poor man’s death despite him being considered as the “late but richest” person. whats the use of having all that money if you die without using even 50% of it?????????? arrrrgh such wasting.

You are absolutely right , however democracy is dictatorship , they really give you nothing but bleed you dry , if you add all the taxes put upon together
you work 7 0r 8 month out of 12 for the so called democratic dictatorship , you have nothing nor will you ever have anything, all you property belongs to the democratic dictatorship, don’t pay your property taxes you loose it, freedom of assembly and speech
maybe if it is small , if it gets to big the police and if necessary the army will be out to undo it and yes by force if need be , it has already been proven many times over , so think about it wealth to one person , or wealth to the top 1% that certainly are not going to share their wealth either

i feel bad at how most of you brutally miss the point. oil is involved and alot more shit that none of us know about…gaddafi this and gaddafi that. do you not realise that your opinion comes straight from the news channel?
most of you are brain washed into thinking he was a bad person… im not with him nor against him but a key player in his death was ultimately the united states of america. they call most of the shots….and if u read some of the comments here, one person mentions “bin laden” he is also a character made by the united states… im surprised how some americans still think “bin laden” was really capable of organising such an attack. blow it out your ass, theres more than what the media shows…
