Late Gaddafi, The Richest Person In The World

Muammar Gaddafi was three times as rich as Carlos Slim and ten times richer than King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia — easily the richest man in the world.

Gaddafi was supposedly worth over $200 billion with assets in bank accounts, real estate and corporate investments around the world. This staggering new estimate comes from senior Libyan officials and seems to be legitimate, according to the LA Times.

How did he get so rich? “King of Kings” Gaddafi had uncontested personal control over the largest oil reserves in Africa for the past 41 years. Unlike Abdullah and other oil-rich leaders, Gaddafi invested little money in national infrastructure like schools and hospitals or any kind of economic diversification. What money Gaddafi did spend went largely to buy support from African leaders.

While much of this money was held by government institutions like the Central Bank of Libya and the Libyan Investment Authority, Gaddafi was able to withdraw money at will. Agencies

Well is it not strange that every information coming out about Gaddafi is just bad and nothing good is said about this man! Has anyone taken time to find out what other things Gaddafi did to his people, to Africa as a whole? Is it really true that Gaddaafi was so bad and why did the Libyans take so long to revolt if their leader was this bad as proclaimed by the west? Why did the west want so much to remove Gaddafi out of power and the UN was so quite about it and they never respected the decisions made by the AU to oppose the bombing of Gaddafi. Why would the west spend so much billions to insure that Gaddafi is eliminated? Ask yourself those questions before you condemn Gaddafi and praise the west for helping the rebels to oust the regime in Libya. Why have they not moved in to help the Syrians! Wake up African open your eyes and see beyond yours nose!

There is no electricity bill in Libya; electricity is free for all its citizens.
    2. There is no interest on loans, banks in Libya are state-owned and loans given to all its citizens at 0% interest by law.
    3. Home considered a human right in Libya – Gaddafi vowed that his parents would not get a house until everyone in Libya had a home.
    4. All newlyweds in Libya receive $60,000 Dinar (US$50,000) by the government to buy their first apartment so to help start up the family.
Education and medical treatments are free in Libya. Before Gaddafi only 25% of Libyans are literate. Today the figure is 83%.
    6. Should Libyans want to take up farming career, they would receive farming land, a farming house, equipments, seeds and livestock to kick-start their farms – all for free.
    7. If Libyans cannot find the education or medical facilities they need in Libya, the government funds them to go abroad for it – not only free but they get US$2,300/mth accommodation and car allowance.
    8. In Libyan, if a Libyan buys a car, the government subsidized 50% of the price.
    9. The price of petrol in Libya is $0.14 per liter.
    10. Libya has no external debt and its reserves amount to $150 billion – now frozen globally
. If a Libyan is unable to get employment after graduation the state would pay the average salary of the profession as if he or she is employed until employment is found.
    12. A portion of Libyan oil sale is, credited directly to the bank accounts of all Libyan citizens.
    13. A mother who gave birth to a child receive US$5,000
    14. 40 loaves of bread in Libya costs $ 0.15
    15. 25% of Libyans have a university degree
    16. Gaddafi carried out the world’s largest irrigation project, known as the Great Man-Made River project, to make water readily available throughout the desert country.
Which other dictator has done much good to his people besides

Very informative. Gaddafi had his own weaknesses but he also had a heart for the Libyans. The major weakness was to overstay in power & eventually power got to his head. Where there’s oil wealth, the West will always want to deal with puppets so that they partake in the loot at the expense of the local nationals. It wont be long when these multinational companies will move into Libya to win tenders to “rebuild” the country & control the oil reserves. Shame! Poor Africans, wake up! It’s sad that the West are now propagating for these leaders/dictators not only to be removed, but killed.

Gaddafi was a good leader and empowered everyone in Libya. For some of us who had an opportunity to Visit Libya, It was a good country and rich country, when someone attained the age of 21, was given a flat for free to occupy and start up a life, Free Health care, free education, everything was so cheap in that country, the economy was very good…alot of jobs for Libyans! Gaddafi even helped other countries in Africa including Zambia. He was spearheading for the independence of Africa as a continent! Though he had money, and was a richest person in the world as they put it, He did not gain that wealth at the Expense of Libyans… He was a good parent to the Libyans and i just hope their action will not cost them much more than just killing one person. He was a brave man and died with diginity on the WAR, most leaders would have run away from leaving his soldiers fighting, but he stayed with them till the end.

This is a modern way of Colonialism in the world…! The west want to control the OIL in the world, FLUSHBACK: what happened in Iraq? Afghanstan? what was accomplished by the west? nothing, but get lid of Saddam Hussein and puting up the Government that they can tell that “we fought for you to be the President, do as we say or we will fight you out,” what did they do when Rwanda went on Civil war? just avaquated their people with their dogs and left the country, the same has happened to poor coutries where there is no Oil. Why is Mugabe of Zimbabwe still president? when he (Mugabe) even went as far as beating up the white farmers during the land reforms program in Zimbabwe. To me Mugabe is worse than Gadaffi, but because there is nothing to gain and benefit the west, they dont care what goes on in Poor coutries. Gaddafi fought for the Independence of Africa and that was a big threat to the so called ‘super powers’ and decided to flush him out. Alot of people have died and those people had nothing against Gaddafi, but loved him. MHSRIP he was a great Leader

Gaddafi did the best for the libyans but they did the worst to him. Very few libians were paying for accomodation abroad even if they were on personal business trips, the embassy was paying for them inluding feeding. i saw this for myself and a car to go round. He created a river to those staying in the desert tapping it from the Ocean. He financially supported most of the African leaders. After all what he did including what Mpangula mputyu has tabbulated, what we all saw was the kind of appreciation by the Libyans. Its a shame.

I have never seen or heard of any leader who has done so much for his people what Gaddafi did for them, if he was my president I would have not minded to have him in power for 100 years. He was cool and we will sadly miss him, he may have died like a dog but to a lot of us he will forever be our hero in the hearts.

Now wait and see the untold suffering which is about to unfold and envelope the Libyan people. These westerners are fucking idiots who are up to no good. Iam also of the view that this man was great; I do not think that the likes of Great leaders of Africa like Nelson Mdiba Mandela, would just befriend a man in vain. The USA in particular were against Mandela, befriending Gaddaffi, however, he told the then President to dive into the swimming pool, and allow him to choose his own friends.
As for the Libians: Just like In Zambia, those of us who were the Youth then, Demonised KK so much; we only realised later just how much this great man had contributed to our Country. Same applies to Gaddaffi, soon they will feel his absence. Just like in Iraq, under Saddam they had clean water, electricity, free education which they do not have now ender the so called Democracy which seem to be failing in terms of looking after the warfare of the people. It now seems to be associated with the rich fwe,
controlling the massive poor. No wonder, the current “we are the 99%” wall street occupation in the USA

I want to ask brothers and sisters of the soil to always do your research before jumping to surport murderers who parade themselves as liberaters.Libya was one of Africas stable economies and these greedy westerners are now destroying it in pursuit of oil. Theyhave and continue murdering so many people in Iraq and now in Libya. It takes decades for a country to rebuild infrastructure that these idiots bomb and destroy to get to one man.
Why didn’t they just alienate him or maybe just arrest him and serve life in both these countries? That man did more for his people than all the other democratic leaders in Africa have ever done in their respective countries.

Yes Gaddaffi certainly overstayed in power but it is not true that his people did not like him and that he was killing or killed his own people. To add on what Mpangula Mputyu said, the West made sure that Gadaffi had to DIE for among other reasons that:
    1. Gaddaffi was one of, if not the only African leader who was very strong and had a on the United States of Africa, which the west did not like at all. For Africans to unit, that would be unity against them.
    2. Gaddafi is one who came up with more than 300 million dollars to purchase the first ever satellite and for Africans to have their own satellite. The satellite was put up together by China and Russia. Africa was paying to the west more than 450 million dollars per year for use of the West’s satellites. Now imagine how much money the West lost when Gaddaffi and the other few African countries contributed funds to come up with this satellite???? The Satellite only costed 400 million dollars to be erected for Africa. You can do the maths.
    3. And Gaddafi advocated for the establishment of stable financial institutions in Africa such as the Central Bank of Africa to be based in Yaounde Cameroon, Africa Investment Bank to be based in Libya and the Africa Monetary Fund to be based in Abuja Nigeria; which were to be established starting this year. That meant that the West could be cut off and Africans would be self sustaining interms of grants, loans and others. Surely can they let you do your own stuff??????????????

Therefore, Gaddafi was just a very bitter pill to swallow and the West just ensured that HE HAD TO DIE.

The west have interest in oil in libya that is why they have pushed so hard for his being toppled and subsequently killed. We have another dictator in Zimbabwe in the name of Robert Mugabe who has brutally murdered his own people up to this day. there is no difference the two dictators Mugabe and Gaddaffi. Why haven’t the west intervened ? the answer is simple there is no oil in zimbabwe.

Did you know that in Libya the following services are free of charge : electricity, water (every part of Libya has tap water), school (up to university), medication (of any sort), housing? On top of this, car subside @ 50% of the purchasing price for every libyan citizen, no bank interest on all loans. The Libyan Gov also builds a house for everyone who wishes to do farming & provide all farming inputs. All graduates that are not yet employed get a pay from Gov every month till they find employment! Further more, you dont ve to pay a daime if you wish to marry as the Gov pays all wedding costs & give the newly wedds a cool 50000 Usa to help them start life together.
