04:50 hrs-LIVE : Breaking News : THREE People BURNT To ASHES In KITWE

A house on the Copperbelt has caught fire in Kitwe’s Kapoto compound.
The tragedy happened when a candle lighting was left burning in the early hours between 04:30 hrs and 05:00hrs of today, Sunday 11/6.
A Tumfweko staff that rushed to the scene found the house in question, burning in flames with Kitwe fire brigade having a tough time trying to quench the fire.
A 5 roomed house which was on rent with tenants occuping a room each had only one exit door and that is where the fire broke loose.
Two people were burnt to ashes while one, a child died on her way to the hosipital, Kitwe Central Hospital.
Pictures to the same incident will be published.
A Tumfweko staff is on the ground and any development will be updated as soon as we gather more information…..

Lets have older on the site. Get the news as it comes. Some chaps are ever talking about grammatical errors. We all know English both spoken and written. Yes i do see mistakes but making it look like tumfweko is dull or doesnt know English is not the way to go. Lets comment on news and issue or if error bother you, unlike tumfweko. Period…

  7. Champi   November 6, 2011 at 7:34 am

You see people must learn to appreciate. Tumfweko is doing a good job, giving us info for free. So to me gramatical errors are not an issue. English is our second language. Do we laugh @ whites when they use broken bemba? Thats what we call inferiority complex on the part of all the shootists. Shame………..too bad for the departed. Yah i know Kapoto. There are ‘real’ rough houses there. Ala mwandi bachifita tulacula. Lesa tutule.

  8. King in the wild   November 6, 2011 at 7:37 am

  11. QUEST   November 6, 2011 at 7:57 am

what is important is to be able to interprete what is written no matter how bad the english may be. so i see no reasons of critical on the gramma. mind you us we are the BANTU speaking people.

  12. Lady gogo   November 6, 2011 at 7:58 am

Given T is equal to their coz they’re three.

  14. Davez   November 6, 2011 at 8:36 am

If its gramma, it has no master,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Even the one laughing hasn’t spotted his mistake.

His first sentence is pathetic as well but we understand him………..
“This is a first ” supposed to be “This is the first”
U see ? If it were exams obviously ni same marks and then we see who laughs who.

One exit in a five roomed house? Landlords please let us put habitable buildings with several emergency exits. Indeed, this piece of news has spoiled my morning. May the souls of our departed colleagues rest in eternal peace

  19. prifita   November 6, 2011 at 9:31 am

I said it! Sata is on a sacrificing spree and these mysterious deaths will be the order of the day. Mwilabepesha Kandulo mwebantu nikwisa uk 04hrs sure? More blood is needed for sata, kaunda and membe to keep hypnotizing PF swine that their god is in control. Chanda Chimba was right 100%. More deaths as long as SATAn remains instatehouse. Bembas and Tongas pliz unite because he is dividing for nothing! Same for Lozi. The man in statehouse is not Bemba but Satanic. Sata is not a bemba name. Research mwebanthu. Its satanic.

God help Kitwe! – two sad stories from there this weekend. It’s encouraging to note though that fire fighters were there trying their best, I think they could have done better with better access roads. A fire outbreak at the Lusaka fire station some years ago made some of us wonder if fire authorities had capacity to save members of the public from any inferno if they battled so much to put out one in their own backyard! So,big you up Kitwe Fire Fighters!

  21. babe-with-attitude   November 6, 2011 at 9:38 am

Tumfweko, we really appreciate what you are doing and you should be aware that you actually do have a wide readership.

People actually make reference to your articles. In short you are becoming an authority both locally and internationally.

My advice to you would be: dont listen to people who are asking you to be complacent with your grammatical errors. A blogger can afford to make a mistake but not you.

So if you can, edit yo work thoroughly. Im sure you are capable of doing so. Besides it will improve your credibility and ratings. Its just advice, take it or leave it.

  22. MAIKALANGE   November 6, 2011 at 9:44 am

@Young-z,ok muchibemba…ukusaMPIlila e kuti shani?haha. May the Lord give solace to the families at loss.

  23. lost clown   November 6, 2011 at 10:01 am

Well the message conveyed in the story is sad. but some bloggers refusal to accept criticism further outlines it in bold why things dont improve in most spheres of our lives. the critique of the site is meant to spur tumfweko to do even a better job. its not about who learnt english better than the other. its about doing everything in your life well or at least striving to do so. one or two errors is fine but not the entire story. @Champi and Lenje Don get off your high horses and learn to take criticism like it should be. even none zambians read this site and what is the image being projected about the caliber of our journalists? are they all quacks? not really. what’s needed in most cases is just a second look at the story and some spell check.

  24. bebe bomfwe   November 6, 2011 at 10:02 am

LOST CLOWN,walipukuta and you shud stop accessing the site. After mwasambilila english ku nite school elyo you start noticing grammatical errors, thats foolishness. We hav lost prescious lives.houses shud not hav one exit pliz ba land lord.

  25. Muzala   November 6, 2011 at 10:35 am

A big thank you TUMFWEKO for the news. my heartfelt sympathy go to the families mourning. As for the the two major opinions on the topic as to whether the news writers should concentrate on the grammer or the news, i feel both should be given priority in news coverage. to this effect i can outrightly say you are both right. If zambian writters have to be recognised the world over they should watch the grammer and spellings and try as much as possible to reduce them. however, where an article with wrong…

  26. danny   November 6, 2011 at 12:07 pm

english is our second language and i see no reason why people who think are masters in english should demonise tumfweko for doing a good job.

  27. bingo   November 6, 2011 at 12:12 pm

LAST CLOWN WEEEE CAGUNWA!!WIF HIZ GRAMITICAL ERZ.so do u fink dat if tufweko cudnt av pstd dis wud hav hed dis sadnewz ociyanga?

  30. Wanu Ngwee   November 6, 2011 at 1:23 pm

Imwe ba tumfweko, where’s the missing Presidential Lexus story? Have you been instructed to remove it?

  31. Wanu Ngwee   November 6, 2011 at 1:34 pm

Ba Tumfweko, why have your 2 main stories disappeared? 1. The Zambia-Malawi story of escalating tensions and 2. The story of Police summoning Austin Sichinga to answer for the missing Presidential Lexus Vehicles?

  32. Framuka   November 6, 2011 at 1:34 pm

Imagine, they have also removed the escalating Malawi and Zambia depolmatic relations. Was it wronly titled?

  33. cult hero   November 6, 2011 at 1:51 pm

Please ladies and gentlemen, newspapers and journalists do not only give news, they also educate. Therefore poor grammar is not acceptable! Otherwise write in a local language! Remember even school children access this and therefore what message are we sending to them? Teaching them wrong grammar, does that help them? Also note that poor grammar can lead to mis-communication and loss of intended meaning. Ba Tumfweko, please let us improve “with immediate effect and in national interest”……..

  34. LEKENI KATEKA ATEKE   November 6, 2011 at 2:25 pm

let us be grateful to read these stories we do appreciate this what you are bringing to us thanks
please do delete comments that bring insults and tribal crap here, let them take that rubbish to Lusaka Times or Zambian watchdog

  35. Lost Clown   November 6, 2011 at 2:53 pm

@LEKENI KATEKA ATEKE: it pains me when people are being myopic like you. are you preaching retrogression is the future. as @Cult hero pointed its Tumfweko’s duty to do their job right. we should learn something apart from just being informed. you are praising bad service delivery. grow up. do you want our kids to read this bad grammar and think its okay to write and speak like this? its not right. PERIOD. and you are not doing Tumfweko any favours by championing mediocrity. English is for most Zambians a second language but that does not give someone trained in the art of communication to misuse and misspell words in such a blatant show laziness.

  36. cult hero   November 6, 2011 at 3:45 pm

Thanks “lost clown”……maybe we can have some sense around here now! Abash mediocrity and myopic thinking!

  37. kamenga D   November 6, 2011 at 4:39 pm

PRIFITA never accuse our president that is one causing those death ok. If u beleive in that u better pray to God to change yo way of thinking that type of thinking is rubbish and foolish.

  38. Malunga besa   November 6, 2011 at 4:58 pm

Forget about grammar, in your tribes you cannot even count up to 1,989,999.

  39. Chiz   November 6, 2011 at 9:19 pm

Why are you arguing over a simple issue, did ba tumfweko publicize something about grammar or funeral? Be realistic guys we are zambian. If u kno english beta than others, thank God 4 that but dont be overproud, remember who brought on earth.

  44. sex lover   November 7, 2011 at 9:32 am

I brought up the issue of grammer yesterday on dis thread as I was commenting on # 4 and am suprised ba tumfweko deleted my comment…its sad coz was sharing news with my bro in law from sweden and I proudly asked him 2browse ba tumfweko and am sure u all know what his comments were concerning the spellings and everything.as a zambian citizen, its my duty 2speak out where I see wrong.my sister who is learning law some times quotes articles published inda media in her assignments but with such pathetic english like mine is not acceptable and cannot be encouraged 2b passed onto da young ones who may think its correct!

  45. cult hero   November 7, 2011 at 10:06 am
