Who remembers these good olden days??
All in all this is what some of us who we are today. That was an unwritten curriculum but it was rewarding. Everything we did was actually a replica of reality. No wonder there is a big gap between us and the children of today. We need to be telling and showing some of theses things to our children.
It was normal some years back! Without history you are nothing! It has made some to play their old favourite music in the likes of Paul Ngozi Nyirongo, PK chishala, Franco among others. This is the music which used to be played in council beerhalls and on Zambia National Broadcasting Services, Home service and general service.

This is what real poverty was. eating ka light porridge for breakfast and only rape and nshima for lunch but no complaints. Christmas was a day to look forward to with the chicken being the main attraction. characters such as shimwana above would not even drink water for fear of diluting the chicken which they would puke at will and continue chewing later. kiola was the best drink. but for me there was no Magamba in my neighbourhood.

Ba Tumfweko, where did you capture this pic. Are these things still happening? On a serious note, could you give me the contact details of this boy or his family so i may donate something to him? I went through this too, but it was okay and funny then, than it is today. If this boy just put on this gear for the sake of playing, then fine. However, if its out of lacking alternative ( better)cloths, then please kindly give me his contact details. I can manage to donate a couple of shorts, at least. This is serious Tumfweko!!!

I think this person must be a Bemba,a nephew to His Excellent MCS from Mpika town.
when a child dress like that in bemba they say umwana ubwamba nabukula. meaning umwana nasapula. this pic reflects the time when our forefathers used to wear IMIBINDE. animal skin or barks from tree trunks. it is from those imibinde where inventing of g-strings started. fashion evolves so is imibinde to g-strings, bottle jeans to tight jean, elingaza to galangatta.
back to the topic, in swaziland, young ladies during umhlanga, the reeds ceremony done by virgins hoping to be picked by the king mutswati as a wife. parade in animal skin attire with bare bums and only a threat passing in between the contours. men who have had attended this umhlanga come back with empty chitetini.
life is a journey
