NIGERIAN Government SUES American Rapper, RICK ROSS

Ross

Rapper Rick Ross is being sued by the Nigerian government after he abruptly canceled a scheduled performance at a music festival in the country.

According to Nigerian Entertainment Today, the Florida native was set to perform at the Calabar Christmas Festival in the state of Cross River on 28 December, but backed out due to “unfulfilled contractual obligations.”

The Cross River State Government is now suing Ross for not performing at the festival, which is one of the largest festivals on the continent.

The festival, which began earlier this month, lasts 32 days and included other headlining acts, such as singer Sean Kingston.

In a statement released by the government, they claim that Ross had been paid a performance fee and that his absence from their festival’s lineup was a breach of contract.

“The performer’s cancellation is unexpected and the reasons are unknown to Cross River State since he has confirmed receipt of his entire performance fee many weeks ago,” stated the government.

The Cross River State Government has now hired lawyers in the United States to further pursue legal action against the rapper, according to AllHipHop.com.

In October, Ross had to cancel several shows after he suffered from a seizure on his way to a performance.

Ross is best known for his hit singles Hustlin (2006) and Here I Am (2008).
