United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema has accused Republican president Michael Sata of trying to suppress the opposition.
UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema says from the pronouncements the president and his party have been making, it is clear that they want to kill the opposition.
Mr. Hichilema has told QFM News that this will in-turn make the country go back to the one party state system which Zambia experienced under the UNIP rule.
He has advised the Zambian people to stand up against the type of leadership similar to that of the one party state.
He has cited among other things, the appointment of opposition Members of Parliament to serve in government as one big example of suppression of the opposition.
Mr. Hichilema has pledged to ensure that his party defends democracy as that is what the majority Zambians want.
