IN the eve of his 88th birthday celebration President Mugabe has branded some African leaders cowards who have sold out their countries for financial aid and material benefits.
In an interview broadcast by state broadcaster, the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation last night, the brutal Zimbabwean dictator said the current crop of leaders was quite different from revolutionaries who fought for Africa’s independence.
“Not only have they become cowards, but have become sellouts of our own people. Betraying, betraying the nations of Africa. That’s that AU thing.
“They just think of money, money, money. Material things!
“If I speak against Britain and Britain is paying part of my budget, it is providing money I need for my hospitals, where shall I get this money?
“If I talk against France and I need French money to pay soldiers, to pay my civil servants, ah, where shall I get the money? That’s the consideration.
“You go and kneel before Sarkozy, you go and kneel before David Cameron, kneel before Obama and say yes we shall do all you want us to do.
“All these leaders, and when you are kneeling, you are making your nation kneel before these young imperialists.”
President Mugabe said Africa was going through its worst period ever.
“Those who came together to form the Organisation of African Unity vowed that Africa would be freed from imperialism and colonialism.
“And you had them like Nkurumah . . . pledging that Ghana would not regard itself as free if any part of Africa was still under the yoke of colonialism and imperialism.”
He said the AU failed to act when NATO bombed Libya in search of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi.
“If anything, those of our leaders, those who are supposed to represent the African Union in the (United Nations) Security Council voted with Europe against their own countries.”
He said leaders are in danger of youths turning against them when they know more about their history under colonialism.
“Youngsters who get educated and see that oh no, the parents are still living the primitive lives of the past will not stand for it.
“Those with brains, with real knowledge of what happened in the past and they will always be, of course, a few of these and they will learn the lessons.”
“I hope, in Southern Africa, I hope we do not fall into the same stupid position as some of our leaders in the West have.
“Subjecting to dictation or dictatorship from the West and that is anathema and that is going to irritate our young people.”
Mr Mugabe said independent Africa has capacity to build resistance much more than before.
“If we had been that cowardly, would we have fought? We were prepared to go to prison, to go to jail, to die for our independence . . . why should we be more afraid than we were, more afraid than our predecessors?”
Africa, President Mugabe said, should always be prepared to fight against foreign invasion.
“You must be prepared, you just must be prepared, even as small as you are to stand for your principles and say do or die here I stand.
“That is what revolutions bid us to be.
“If leaders are going to act in a sheepish way, then you are not fit to be leaders at all.”

Uncle Bob Mugabe did not cause his people to suffer; it was the same west he is rightly condemning who squeezed his economy by syphoning the USD out of circulation every time it hit into western owned commercial banks such as barclays bank. he got around that by starting to use the very US Dollars because if those banks took it out they would be syphoning themselves out of market.Uncle Bob once again outwitted the western sadist.
look for a competent young man to succeed him and he will surely stepdown. Morgan will just make one of the cowardly african leaders being condemned. So, get somebody else please.

We need old men like Sata as presidents in Africa. People who died during the independance struggle need to be honoured not just through ceremonies but by not allowing recolonization which has appeared through thoroughly economic privatization & “human rights” false hood e.g. allowing homosexuals to freely champion their un natural behaviours for aid to be given.
Africa has so many resources for all African i.e. all races whose grand parents or parents settled here and those who want to settle in Africa.
Book theories are not enough!Let’s go it the old way. Most Matured kings rule better due to what they have experienced and heard.

what sensible thing can mugabe speak when he killed his own people because they did not want to vote for him? so what “goodnews” can come from such a person. no leader flourishes on hatred, but peace joy and happiness, and forgiveness. you can not make a right with a wrong no never. so what this colleague of ours needs to do is to accept that there are people with different views. in trying to prove oneself alot of people have died! is this what is known as sensible? its not in proving what you are made of but providing solutions to the many challenges people are faced with. ask RB where is he now? including kakupya milomo and bokosi.

I agree with Kenneth Kaunda Mbewa Mayuka. Mugabe should not think of himself as the best leader. He forced himself into State House by cheating and shedding the blood of the innocent sons and daughters of the Africa he is bragging about. Ithink cowardly leaders are better if they respect our rights. What would the people you persecuted and killed say of these ‘wise’ words of yours Mugabe, if they had the chance to say a thing?

Mugabe speaks sense in a lot of ways. We have allowed ourselves to be colonised again economically, and feel we cannot survive without the west. The west has worked so hard to get rid of every leader whose economy is self sustaining because they know that such leaders can influence other african leaders against the west. BUT however, Mugabe seriously needs to step down for younger blood.

Guys Zimbabwe anazitaya mwine eka.Mugabe and other leaders can never comfess to their blanders. This time around, it is just impossible for a majority of Arican countries to develop without foreign investment. Mugabe simply wants to share the shame in a smart way by circuitously enticing, you know tempting other leaders so that he departs a HEROE. To be a hero, you have to humble yourself, work for the grassroots, help fullfeel dreams of the needy and not shattering everyone’s dream. African fathers please learn to forgive’n forget, grandpa MANDELA laid the foundation FOR YOU. Right now am in Namibia, ZIM is supposed to be in the same boots, but ….! ZED go, ba SATA go, MAY GOD BLESS ZAMBIA, IN JESUS NAME…

Ok, fair enough, everything he said is truthful and was needed to be heard. But how hypocritical is that of him? The other leaders are so materialistic? Mr Mugabe, look at yourself first. You and your government drive around in a new BMW every year, MP’s get given new tractors even though they live in cities, he travels with huge entourages and security personnel wherever he goes, he commandeers whole planes and make travellers wait hours for the next plane to take them, at their own expense. All this while millions starve and die in his country. The only seed available for crops are given to him from these western countries. As a zimbabwean, I pray he actually listens to what he has said and not only changes his ways, but steps out of power. Its what the country and the people need.
