Former FAZ vice president Emmanuel Munaile is tipped to challenge incumbent Kalusha Bwalya at next month’s elective annual general meeting in Kitwe.
Bwalya has announced his intentions to re-contest the top FAZ job following Zambia’s successful outing to the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon/Equatorial Guinea.
The Africa Cup success has renewed hopes for Bwalya and his team whose confidence from majority of councillors had completely eroded prior to the tournament.
Even with the Chipolopolo victory, it remains uncertain if Bwalya and his entire team would retain their positions in an event of formidable opposition.
Sources have disclosed to bolayathu.com that Munaile, who served as Bwalya’s deputy for two years but quit citing mal-administration, has emerged as one of the candidates challenging the post of president.
Munaile was contacted by bolayathu.com to confirm suggestions he is challenging his former boss at both FAZ.
“To be honest with you, I am still consulting a lot of people. By next week, I should be in a position to say,” he said.
Munaile will be making his third bid into the FAZ executive committee having been committee member between 2000 to 2004 under Evaristo Kasunga before losing the bid for re-election for the same position in January 2004.
The former Mufulira Wanderers and Zanaco midfielder re-appeared in 2008 to contest the position of vice-president beating among others Andre Mtine, Giles Yambayamba, Simataa Simataa and Joseph Nkole.
He lasted two years in that position before quitting citing lack of transparency and accountability in FAZ.
Munaile, the former Malole Member of Parliament, was also a member of the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations finalist team that finished second to Nigeria and was captained by Bwalya.
Meanwhile, Bwalya is the only FAZ presidential candidate that has so far openly declared his intentions with the deadline for filing nominations set for February, 29.
The AGM will be held at Moba Hotel on the Ndola-Kitwe dual carriage way.

KALU FOR LIFE
NO SENSE, AS UNREASONABLE AS SATA
ulichipuba how can u say kalu for life we ne change
Munaile doesnt stand a chance now against Kalusha with the winning of the African Tournament, it will not be easy to challenge Kalusha.
The guys are going to campaign as they take the trophy across the country, remember RB scampaigns with LPM funeral, ecept this time it the cup, itself!!!
Batumfweko please you must improve on your headlines. Munaile said he would make his intentions known next week, as for now he is consulting a lot of people. mwaba shani kanshi? you always prefer misleading ababntu te? anybody is free to contest thew FAZ presidency but what matters is that we want an improvement and success in our footballing circles and not Politics! iwe kamunaile were have you been. after Bazambia bawina elyo mwamba ukufyaya ukutungulula? where were you when there were problems?
non-starter
If you are aspiring to be FAZ president its better to be tactical now because challenging for the post may be alright but the time is not right. Presently Great Kalu cant lose. Wait for him to resign and then raise your hand.
Brother Em do yo home work well before u resign again and then tell the pipo what u want to do now that u left at FAZ
That is how the human mind is, no matter what good you may try to do as long as things are not at their side, they will try by all means to frustrate you, as long as they benefit then things are okey. This is nothing but pocket power, the players and Kalu’s administration have brought happiness in our country by winning the African cup, how can someone with five senses think of replacing Kalu. More money in our pockets kulibe chinangu.
wrong timing
Tell the pipo what u want to do now that u left at FAZ .Better than lifting the AFCON trophy.
Lots of bafoons speaking. Kalushaa was not responsible for this win, he is a plunderer & he is terribly disorganised
no chance for munaile
Lekeni Kalu akachayeko AKA LAST nakambi…..I hope he will not be remembered for the TWA LAST atemwisha…..so that he doesn’t miss the opportunity to go in history as a hero.
This cup has erased his last kick of his career. We hope he does better in his second term as FAZ President…..else….kaya?
Munaile has proved himself to be an opportunist. He left FAZ at a critical time when level headedness was required. He aligned himself with other malcontents who wanted to wreck havoc in the Zambian soccer fraternity. Kalusha must continue as FAZ president because he has proved his substance by bringing Africa Cup to Zambia.
Munaile has just reached a dead end with his opportunism.
Politically he is finished after a short-lived stint in parliament. He went to parliament in 2006 after stealing the seat from a PF candidate who had out-rightly won the elections in Malole constituency. Munaile was favoured by the rotten MMD system when a foolish returning officer erroneously or deliberately pronounced Munaile as the winner of the elections instead of a PF candidate, Mrs Mutale who had beaten Munaile by far.
The rotten system of MMD then endorsed Munaile as the winner as there was no reversal after one was pronounced as winner. This is a rotten clause entrenched by rotten rigime. As if this was not enough evidence of misrule, the court also rejected the petition to reverse the decision of endorsing Munaile as winner, on a flimsy ground that the petitioner had not signed when she petitioned.
For five years Munalie helped himself to emoluments to which he was not genuinely entitled, without a flush of shame in his face. In view of this political shortcoming on the part of Munaile, he can’t be entrusted with the affairs of FAZ
@reason and Galu. If kalu is that evil why can’t you report him to the relavant authority? If you have that evidence and you just yap instead of reporting ,you must then be irresponsible Zambians. Kalu has brought the cup . What do you want ?for that to happen it takes more than just play on the field. That’s what is in kalu. He is simply great even in administration. Who is Munaile? A failure even as an mp in Malole constituance. What can we remember him for ?WHAT I KNOW IS THAT HE REMAINS AS WORST MP IN THAT AREA. Leave kalu alone! You must even know that this time we won’t allow you to pepetuate chao as it was during Rb’s days. Be warned!
pragmatist ayo ndiye mau! If Munaile was an MP by dubious means, what guarantee is he giving the people of Zambia that he will not cause confusion in FAZ once elected or by stealing again peoples votes! we know these things. He who had a conscious that I have lost but went on to pretend that he had won? Please pipo do not be cheated by this opportunist as rightly said by pragmatist! Munaile exculpate yourself about the Malole seat in 2006 before you can even think of FAZ? what can a Liar like you offer in FAZ?
Munaile, has qualities yes he should be supported infact most Zambians do not know. Munaile is the real member of the Chipolopolo he played in the original team of Chipolopolo at Chishimba Naional Service where the name came from in 1978- 1979 intake.
Please let him have a chance we are tired of the Kansuswa guy!!!
Last minute developments … They said RB could not be beaten because of them .. Well, Sata is at Plot 1. Go for it Munaile and any soccer administrator who is up to it.
Munaile you just lost erections of MP in Malole, but mwana ukulinganya amapu.. with Kalusha will even make you lose more dignity. Just stay away, better for you to run a club like ZANACO, eve coaching you can do. Being an MP is not something special.
kalusha bwalya has failed to market our local league, people do not be blinded by the afcon, kalu is not a good faz president, he has failed!!!!!!!!!!!!!. viva simata simata he is the man for the job.
Ok, If I were great Kalu, I would have called it quits. There cannot be a better time than this. What Kalusha wanted for years was delivered under his tutelage. Therefore, to avoid being embroiled in stupid issues, it is better to leave now and Honourably.
Leave kalu alone. MMD & UPND turncoats will never win..
It will take a miracle for anyone to outseat Kalu so early after he has scored kudos for himself and Zambia. What kind of a fool changes a winning team. Viva Kalu. Viva FAZ.
It ll be like fighting the Klishko brothers. Hitting brick walls. A share waste of time by Munaile. U ll fight the loosers fight, Chinsora/ David Haye
Do you all wear the same underwear everyday????Ala imwe we need change.Great kalu is a disorganised chap!
Its only Great Kalu who pipo wants. The reasons are simple & clear, that if he can achieve something under that kind of up evil conditions he suffered at the hands of “Losers”,he deserves a credit. If he goes away, then who ever will come in must expect a “Very frustrating tenure in office” I will openly hit him on the head all the time just as they used to do to Kalu
@kalu from kansuswa who told u.high cost in case u didnt know jst like me.any way kalu for the top job.
@kalu from kansuswa who told u.high cost in case u didnt know jst like me.any way kalu for the top job.viva ba mighty wonderers
@kalu from kansuswa who told u.high cost in case u didnt know jst like me.any way kalu for the top job.viva ba mighty wonderers.
Ok abena kalu ama south african balitemwa ka monez ni ba plunderer kuba nabo careful. Its just bcoz we ve won the afcon thats y we are supporting.
from the stupid to the insane? we deserve better than any of these two SELFISH CROOKS offering their rotten dicks for the job!
Ba Munaile naimwe ikalenifye. Try after Mayuka’s tenure in 2032 We know you not because you were MP but because you were Kalu’s vice. Being with Great Kalu improved your image now you want to give the impression you are better than him! Ekutumpa kwaba Kaffir!
it will be embarrassing defeat for munaile, please listen to what other people say,its wrong timing just wait for the next time.
gentlemen let those in the football farmily determine their destine.however winninng afcon must not completely blindfold us about the ills that are going on at football house.
problems at faz are far more than what we the outsiders think, therefore my advise is let us reflect on the past critically.
do not listen to empty tins like kambwili,ba lya chiwelewele.you can see from the way he is loosing ministries.
It is difficult to unseat Kalusha this time but it is possible. One Possibility is if there is a United front to unseat him. There must be a strong candidate at presidency who should have a very strong runing mate at Vice or vice versa. I suggest Hanif Adams at Presidency and Munaile or Kamanga at Vice. Then Kalu will be in trouble. Otherwise they will just split votes and Kalu will wallop them.
Awe bane, we all are glad for afcon results due to great work of a united team under kalu admin, but let mr munaile exercise his right. otherwise for munaile this is wrong timing. let kalu do it for the last time
Last time Haniff Adams lost land slide to Kalu for Veep, then Mulonga also lost land slide and bring on Munaile the guy who went to parliament without winning the election!
Nothing is impossible EM go for it. Trust in God. Kalu is just like you. The only person you should fear is God the creator not a human being like you. You will be the next President after the AGM. Kalu has over lived his term. GO EM you are the next FAZ president.
Losers, losers, losers. What more does soccer fans want to warrant change.Very bad timing baMunaile and for those that are easily cheated by foolish rumour mongers please grow up and deal with facts not lies and innuendoes. No rational man will start fixing something that is not broken.UMUNGULU FWEBENA ZAMBIA.
KAYA MWANDINI.IT’S GOOD 2 KNOW THAT WE ARE BEGINNING TO LEARN TO 4GIVE & 4GET
I’m terribly shocked about Munaile’s intentions to stand in the forth coming FAZ general election i think he’s just jocking because he lost it just when he left FAZ at that time when kalu’s executive needed him most.i do not know if he was bought or not.For keith Mwewa i would advise him to leave our sports minister alone twapapata. Kalusha Bwalya made a bold decision to bring back Renard to the team, he was insulted and called all funny names by people like Keith, but as a great leader he went ahead ,results today are that Zambia has won africa cup for the first time! Na mulubana guys tatulemifwaya just continue with your national soccer league you formed if ever it’s in existence.but imwe tapali icenu mu FAZ. Viva Kalu you ‘ve made us proud.
Football and Zambians
Lost respct for Munaile when he went to Parliament knowing very well he is not the one who had won the election. That is cheating.
Great Kalu my Man….Go…GO…forward regardless of what happens.Any successful man in the world has a string of enemies behind him. Some pipo are jst yappin’ about out of nothing else but TOTAL JEALOUS & PERSONAL GRUDGE…It truly doesn’t work like that…time ‘ill be able 2 tell that Great Kalu should leave..designed by God not Man!!4 Munaile..u are really a poor & wrong STRATEGIST!!Try next time in Future…so that u may ‘ve a comparative advantage over the one who ‘ll be interested in contestin’ that time.No matter what happens, the name of Great Kalu has been engraved upon the mind of any indigeneous citizen of Zed.He is brilliantly talented.Liked by both the living & the dead.God bless u greatly Kalu.
I support Kalu .Am sure every Zambian is proud of what we just achieved..being champions for the first time after so many years of struggle.I believe part of the reason for success is Kalu’s admin and his group.Viva Viva Kalu.
Kulabila ca cendi uyu munyamata ayobeleela ukumunaila. Ba MMD baalimunaila umufuba nomba alefwaya naifwe tumunaile. Uno mwaka tatwakunaile. Wapeleela pa twana twa nkoko waliile mu MMD.
Go Zambia Go! Go Kalu Go!
Munaile…..Foolish,,,,,Kalusha…..eeeee boom!!
To hell with kalu.Go Munaile!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
