Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) National Secretary Richard Kachingwe has said the former ruling party will not take part in by-elections induced by the ruling Patriotic Front.
Reacting to the statement by Republican Vice President Guy Scott in which he said Eastern Province will soon become the ruling Patriotic Front’s stronghold, and further predicted that the PF will take over most of the parliamentary and local government seats through nullification and resignations, Major Kachingwe said it is a clear that the PF influences resignations in Eastern in order to win support.
He says it is unfortunate that the vice president can issue such a statement instead of concentrating on how his government will develop the country.
Speaking in an interview with QFM,Major Kachingwe has since stated that Zambia risks going back to the one party state system with the rate at which the PF is influencing resignations.

MMD do NOT behave like UNIP. Boycotting will not solve your problems. If un principaled MMD MP’s resign, contest those seats and ensure u win. If you let the PF take them by your boycoting, it will be difficult for u to claim the in future as the PF Mp will entranche himself/helself and will be difficult to unseat in future. heed my advise.

PF has not realized that it is loosing popularity. The problem is that we do not have principled leaders in the opposition. Come next elections, it will be Sata against the frog because there will be no opposition as they will have all moved to PF. Even this Kachingwe guy will move should he be offered a job. Shame on you.Why even vote for someone who is changing camps? Does an MP only perform when they are in the ruling party? Shame on these opportunists. They didnt go to parliament to represent the people. Bamuselela kwakaba. God is going to raise someone to bring true change to Zambia not these recycled politicians.

Blessed people, the solutions lies in enacting a constitution that allows an MP to switch parties but still maintain his/her seat EXCEPT when that MP is RECALLED by his/her constituency.

what is most worring is rate at which MMD is going down. We need an oppostion that can stand with the PF. Ba kachingwe, Boycotting a by Election is not a solution and not good for democracy. PF needs to be provided with checks and balances so that it does not become complasant. And from what i can see UPND can not do that.

Tonga bull, your suggestion is very shallow, because if voters boycott, only those who favour the ruling party will vote, and even if it is only one, that will be a majority vote. Think a little bit. We know you hate us, but we’re even advising you to what might be your advantage because we’re not petty.

MMD please do not commit suicide so early! Can’t you learn from UNIP?
PF appears to be a one term party regime, going by the way they are destroying themselves.
A vulture is a patient bird. The hour will come!
Zambia needs a strong opposition. We need MMD to fight for decentralisation in Parliament. We need devolution power to the people.
Independence from Britain should not just end in Lusaka, We need it to reach Mongu, Solwezi, Choma …

Richard I know you rose through the ranks to become an officer. This is very commendable because you had ambition and you are a very determined person. Please now think like an officer you had become. UNIP died the day KK forced the party to boycott the elections. If you take that route you are consigning MMD to the grave. That is why some bloggers are saying you are job seeking from PF. Why do you want to kill the MMD? You have a convention in April and a chance for the mighty MMD to resurrect through the new leadership. Read my lips PF is dying because of its intolerance of different views and lack of vision for the country. PF is everything that is anti development and economic progress. Fertile ground is set to get rid of PF. Your party needs to strategise. Immediately after convention hit the campaign trail and sell the mighty MMD. Come 2016 MMD shall rule again

Am worried because of he doesnt consult anybody when making serious decisions. He even confirmed this when he said ” I didn’t consult anybody when i declared this as a burial site for the 1993 National team” He was only a Minister then but did not consult anybody. What more Nomba that he is the presisent?
