ZRA Declares War On Tax Evaders

The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) has declared war against tax evaders in the country.

ZRA Commissioner General Berlin Msiska says tax evasion is one of the major challenges that the commission faces in tax collection.

Mr. Msiska explains that the commission is currently making its operations more efficient by sealing loopholes for tax evasion.

He has since called on individual Zambians and companies to abide to their tax obligations as required by the law.

The Commissioner General has also stated that ZRA is also working on modalities to address infrastructure challenges and the porosity of border posts that give leeway to smuggling.

Zambia needs to consider the development of infrasture to entice electronic transactions that would help reduce money leakages.
On the other hand, smuggling should be looked at as a sign that there is a ready market for your products. Produce more and supply that market. For how long are we going to be crying smuggling?

the only solution is to reduce on taxes and not where one is made to pay duty twice th price the good was bought. E.g chirundu boder is too expensive for cross boder busines, thus pipo resort to smulgling. Check it out

You guys are just thieves indeed. My car’s shocks are finished because of driving on bad roads, yet you charge ridiculous import duties on vehicles in addition to the insane PAYE that we give you on a monthly basis, and all the other taxes that you collect from us. What do you use the money for? Useless.

In our campaign we said lower taxes. It is a matter of when. This can be one way of ensuring compliance is achieved.

I am based in the UK and every time I travel, the way I am treated by ZRA staff at Lusaka Intl Airport is a begger belief.
One bag with a few new things and they want to charge you, I thought Mr Commissioner General that as Zambians we are allowed $500 worth of gifts, but these officer will owez find an excuse to leave room for you to bribe them.
Do something first to your officers sir before you target hard working Zambians. SO PF GOVERNMENT DEAL WITH THE Commissioner General first and ZRA staff before you come to us. Charity begin at home, they say.

Know your rights. Everybody is allowed $1000 allowance but these guys at ZRA will claim your goods are commercial so u are forced to bride them.
ZRA start your new plan by getting Tax from Mr. Mulenga who has billions of Kwacha to pay for the by elections.

Mr Commissioner Sir, i suggest its time you talk about the ridiculous tax we are subjected to each time a local imports a vehicle from outside Z. why should we be paying an amount equivalent to that we used when buying a vehicle? Can the commissioner find ways of reducing this agone for Zambians and charge it more on Foregners since they came to harvest the little we have. I await you comment on this important matter. While our shoes are finishing because of walking to and from work, you yourselves enjoy driving posh cars corruptly aquired and use of lesser tax. Check this out>

Taxes are too high in Zambia. I would rather pay ZRA inspector quarter of the amount that the GRZ want to collect. Reduce the tax rate to encourage people to pay.

I believe the taxes being paid by Zedians are very high hence the rise of evasion and corruption. Anyway zed is full of corrupt minds even the current govt regime harbors them. The great north road leaves much to be desired up to nakonde, just pama shops mindu area its in a mess but senior council officers in nakonde are driving nice cars bought by stealing revenue collected. A truck is paying 45pin and small vehicles are charged 25pin and approximate 1000 vehicles cross the border but there isn’t development in nakonde apart from ukupanda. Let all govt wings be investigated and that’s when you can follow up those tax evading citizens.
