Match-fixing Convicts Cleared For Zambian League

The Football Association of Zambia have cleared two players convicted in a 2011 Finland match-fixing scandal to play for Napsa Stars.

Napsa Stars chairman Richard Nawa confirmed to MTNFootball.com that strikers Nchimunya Mweetwa and Christopher Musonda were now eligible
to play for the promoted club.

“I can confirm that FAZ has allowed Nchimunya Mweetwa and Christopher Musonda to play for us,” Nawa said.

Nawa however added that he could not confirm whether Mweetwa and Musonda would be available to play for Napsa on April 21 in their MTN/FAZ Super Division Week Five game against Konkola Blades in Lusaka.

Mweetwa and Musonda were part of the nine Zambian players convicted last year for their role in fixing games in Finland while at their former Finnish club RoPS.

All the players were later deported back to Zambia after they were handed suspended sentences.

Mweetwa and Musonda have been training with promoted Napsa Stars since the off-season while awaiting their clearance to play in the Super Division.
