Runaway league leaders Zesco United opened a four point lead at the top of the MTN/FAZ Super League standings with a 2 – 1 win against Green Eagles in a match played at Trade Fair Ground on Wednesday.
Zesco scored the first goal in the seventh minute through Simon Silwimba before Jackson Mwanza consolidated the lead with a second goal in the sixteenth minute. Zesco had a chance to make it 3 -0 on the half hour but current league top scorer Jackson Mwanza missed a penalty.
That was the last real chance they had for a goal as Green Eagles were more organised after the break and they managed to pull back a goal.
In Chililabombwe, Kabwe Chileshe’s 82nd minute goal helped hosts Konkola Blades earn a deserved point against Power Dynamos who had found the back of the net in the eighteenth minute through Maybin Chishimba.
