Two Families In Almost ‘Blow’ Exchange Rangle

TWO families almost exchanged blows at the Ndola court grounds yesterday following a dispute over the State’s decision to enter a nolle prosequi in the case of a woman accused of killing her husband.
Beatrice Kalaba, who was facing one count of murder, contrary to section 200 of the Laws of Zambia, was discharged by Judge-in-charge Munalula Lisimba when the matter came up for trial.
Particulars of the offence are that on November 11, 2011, Kalaba, 22, of house number 1201 Nkwazi Township in Ndola, allegedly murdered her husband, Dickson Kampamba, during a marital dispute.
“Since the State has entered a nolle prosequi as directed by the Director of Public Prosecutions, you will be discharged but it does not mean you are acquitted. If evidence is found against you, you will be re-arrested,” Judge Lisimba said.
Soon after the ruling, Kalaba and her relatives rushed out of the courtroom to celebrate the newly-acquired freedom, while the family members of the deceased started wailing in the court grounds.
The dead man’s family could not hide their anger as they hurled unprintables at the woman’s family and almost grabbed Kalaba so that they could mete out instant punishment.
The family vowed to avenge their relative’s death by all means.
But Kalaba was whisked away by her brother using a taxi.
Police officers stationed at the court also helped to restrain the two families from engaging in a physical fight.
“This is not fair and as long as you (Kalaba) have the blood of my son on your hands, you will live a terrible life for the rest of your life,” the man’s mother told Kalaba.
Other family members remained in the court grounds wailing and complaining that the justice system is unfair.
“We all know that the woman was not good to her husband. She is the one who organised the beating which led to his death,” Jason Nyirongo, the deceased’s father, said.
Mr Nyirongo said just before his son’s death, he had fought with his wife and the incident led to her losing two teeth.
“After that incident, her family ganged up against Dickson, whom they beat until he lost consciousness and he died upon arrival at the hospital. All those who were in the courtroom (referring to Kalaba’s relatives) have a hand in my son’s death,” he said.
Mr Nyirongo accused the prosecution team of ignoring a postmortem report issued by Ndola Central Hospital which indicated that Kapamba died of bleeding in the head as a result of the beating

@ price the judge is not corrupt. Those are instructions from the DPP. If fresh evidence is found then kalaba will be rearested. The DPP in his opinion has found the case to be too week to proceed for prosecution

Folks allow me to digress for a bit: I was in Zambia recently to watch our Chipolopolo boys wallop Ghana last weekend and as usual I was pissed off when I visited some entertainment houses to see how white South African men flirting with young Zambian girls that are at least 45 years younger than them, in other words girls their grand daughters’ age. For me it’s really the hypocrisy of these men that shocks me, coz they treat Africans as lesser humans in SA and would never want to associate with or be seen to be in love with black girls in SA, yet they do it in Zed. What’s even more depressing is that we the on-lookers are tolerating the abuse of our young and hungry teenage girls by these men in their 60′s and 70′s. After the match in Ndola my friends and I spotted one old white man with a teenage Zambian girl, and then saw the same man with a different “infant” in Lusaka. Now, I have decided to be taking pictures of such men that I see with different girls, and be posting the pictures to TUMFWEKO, so that we open a NAME AND SHAME page for these men who think with their third “leg”, FOLKS I AM PLEADING FOR YOUR SUPPORT IN THIS NAME AND SHAME CAMPAIGN, PLEASE!
