Trade Fair Attracts Over 670 Exhibitors

OVER 670 local and foreign exhibitors have confirmed participation at this year’s Zambia International Trade Fair (ZITF) which opens gates to the public today.
ZITF general manager Jonathan Simwawa says in an interview that the ZITF has attracted a total of 675 exhibitors.
The confirmed number of local exhibitors is 554, while 121 is that of confirmed foreign exhibitors.
Mr Simwawa said the Chamber of Commerce, Trade and Industry of India will bring 20 exhibitors to participate for the first time at the international trade fair while seven from the China business chamber are also expected to take part in the fair in Ndola.
This year’s 48th ZITF theme is: “Creating Synergies beyond Borders,” with a total number of exhibitors by country standing at 17.
Mr Simwawa said, “We have an opportunity to host 20 exhibitors coming from India to take part for the first time at this year’s international trade affair.
“Seven other foreign exhibitors are also coming under the umbrella of China Chamber of Commerce, Trade and Industry.”
He said the Indian exhibitors will showcase various equipment in the agricultural and mining sectors.
Those from China will showcase their equipment in the various sectors including construction industry.
Mr Simwawa said the ZITF provides the best platform for partnerships and appointing agents for countries and foreign companies wishing to increase their trade and investment with Zambia, or the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa and Southern African Development Community.
Meanwhile, rehabilitation at most stands in the trade fair grounds have been completed with only a few booths being worked on as at Monday.
The completed stands include the international and Kelvin Mulenga halls respectively for international exhibitors.
“We are happy with the progress made by the exhibitors so far as most of the stands have been completed with a few being worked on. We have completed works on our international halls for our visitors and they are ready for occupation,” he said.
A check at the trade fair grounds revealed that most of the exhibitors found at the stands were making final touches.

Yaaa! I was there yesterday (27/06/2012), its just the same old grounds that do not even befit the status of INTERNATIONAL. Gate 11 packing area was just being cleared. ITS SO DIRTY and I know the scenario is the same elsewhere. At the end of the fare, the same story continues,’the trade fare made a profit of sooooooo muuuuuch and it was hugely a success’. But where they take the money to develop the grounds nobody knows! Ha ha ha ha ha!
