SATA: “It Is Entirely Upto Tonga’s To See Development In Their Area”

Republican president Michael Sata says it is entirely up to the people of southern province to ensure that development reaches the area.

President Sata says the people of southern province have no one but themselves to blame for the under development in the province because they have been making wrong choices in choosing parliamentarians.

Speaking at a public rally at Livingstone’s Villa grounds to drum up support for PF Livingstone candidate Joseph Akafumba yesterday, Mr. Sata said the people of southern province need to liberate themselves by voting for a candidate in the ruling party.

Flash Back: President Sata On Facebook
The head of state also cautioned political leaders against attacking Personality but instead attack hunger and poverty.

The president who was supported by senior Chief Mukuni and other senior government and party officials says it is time to concentrate on the developmental agenda.

Speaking earlier, senior Chief Mukuni of the Toka-leya people called for the need to develop infrastructure in order for Livingstone to fully have a meaning of a tourist town.

Meanwhile, southern province minister Obvious Mwaliteta says the opposition united party for national development should not think as though they have title deeds to southern province.

Mr. Mwaliteta says the opposition should just accept that tangible development can only come through the government.

And tourism minister Given Lubinda, who is also Kabwata Patriotic Front Member of Parliament, says it is very sad that the upnd turned into a violent party ever since Hakainde Hichilema took over after the death of founder, Anderson Mazoka.

  4. John Chinena   July 3, 2012 at 11:19 am

I am sure some known cliques will condemn this too. Surely, we cannot change all zambians to support us and develop the province. But certainly, we can change ourselves to pick the right path to development. Opposing everything and refusing to work with governments all the time will take Southern province no where. The blame is entirely ours.

It is true, This is not time for politics, but development, let us make a difference the way we deal politicts. As at now PF is in power and it is useless to vote for opposition, to do what? To oppose development. come on pipo.

  8. sanders   July 3, 2012 at 12:14 pm

Does Sata understand the meaning of Democracy? People have the freedom to chose their representatives. However government development plans should not be tied to this.

  9. SAVIOUR,   July 3, 2012 at 12:50 pm

It is vary shameful to hear that to a head of state,if southern province is not not in zambia then fine thy should not develop it,it shouldn’t be a threat if you havnt voted for the ruling party, other provinces are not developed, what are they doing about it?this is a sirius matter,

  10. Saviour   July 3, 2012 at 12:55 pm

Sanders your right, evly zambian has a right to vote the person he want,it shoudnt be a threat if you havnt voted for PF,

  11. jali   July 3, 2012 at 12:55 pm

This is democracy, let the people of l/stone vote for the best candidate. This campaign style belong to the archives.

  12. Lumbumukuta   July 3, 2012 at 1:01 pm

@winter u ar very stupid, if its not time 4 politics why tokin develpment @ a campaign rally? Go and tok devlopment in mansa where there ar no bye elections, more over southern is far much developed than luapula. If u haven’t toured zambia tel ur ukwa 2 give u transport to explore zambia.

  13. ukwa prt2   July 3, 2012 at 1:30 pm

Who say development can only be delivered by a parliamentarian? U need to develop equitably not the shit Ukwa is talking about!

  14. Barotse diaspora   July 3, 2012 at 1:52 pm

  15. Mwanarob   July 3, 2012 at 2:37 pm

Very sad indeed. Cheap politiking. Why can’t Zambians read through Sata? Isn’t he the same man who promised us heaven in the election against Banda? Money in pockets, New Constitution, jobs, fight against corruption, etc. The lozi’s got a good dose of his lies with the ‘restoration’ of the Barotseland Agreement. Now he even asks his ministers to bow before voters in Livingston. This must actually annoy the voters in Livingston. If he was at least serious, he should have disciplined his great minister and nephew Sampa who insulted the people of Southern Province. It is Sata and his cheap tricks again. Please do not vote for PF. You will be ditched – ask your bululus in Mongu. Sata must show more seriousness. Zambia is not for a ride.

  16. Wanu Ngwee   July 3, 2012 at 3:24 pm

It’s very true that despite being younger, HH has turned the late Mazoka’s party into a tribalistic one when Anderson himself did in fact not mean it to be that way. What a shame!

  17. Mwanarob   July 3, 2012 at 3:33 pm

Ach come on Wanu Ngwee, Mazoka was called a tribalist by these same people praising him today. They just want to make points for nothing. The problem is that the man (HH) is tonga and the Mazoka was tonga. That is their problem. We know this Sata politics too well now.

  18. nyatu   July 3, 2012 at 3:59 pm

vote opposition it is up to u, these pipo they just make noise pariament togas work up vote pf we want that land to develop

Wanu ngwe you no nothing about politics,go to northern province count the number of people who voted for HH and go to southern provice as well and then count the number of people who voted for sata,Sata got a lot of votes compare to HH who got less votes to bembers,PF is a trible lism party,

  23. Kopala   July 3, 2012 at 5:50 pm

Tongas are foolz n vry uncivilizd more espcly thos born n brot up frm southern province. They jst behave lyk cowz.

  24. chimps   July 3, 2012 at 5:56 pm

Insults will never give you development you fellows ! from time imemorial you have been tribal, you must rise above tribal politics , otherwise you must accept the inevitable,i.e haterade and insulting leaders on tribal lines will never take you anywhere !Kaunda created an environment for inter marriages why do our friends from Southern sound so heated up with tribal fights ? Plz think of those spouses you have married from other tribes especially Bembas and tone down your tempers. . We need each other and accept the “ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION ” Consept. .

  25. kays   July 3, 2012 at 6:42 pm

Each hand has got five fingers, so if you point your friend with one finger saying you are triblist, the lest of the fingers are pointing at you which means you are four times worse than the person you pointing at.

  26. Gumu Gumu   July 3, 2012 at 6:53 pm

Only idiots like wanu Ngwee cannot see that Sata is the one who has always thrived through tribalism. One of the reasons why FTJ didnt want him anywhere near the corridors of State House was because of his genetically embeded tribalism. Any normal Zambia knows that Sata eats, breathes, baths ,dreams, talks tribalism going back to his UNIP days.HH might be tribe inclined in his own way but Sata is the godfather of tribalism in Zambia.I miss FTJ the President of all Zambians. That’s why he got more votes from Southern Province than ant other winning Presidential candidate.

  27. Bric Brac   July 3, 2012 at 6:59 pm

It’s really shameful that the entire president can sink so low as to impose his preference on people who are not his children but employers. What cheek!!!! Sata won elections, but did not beat a combined oppostion vote, so PF cadres stop imposing your will on every Zambian. The people are waiting for your campaign promises, only when you deliver, will some of us take you seriously!!! For now let the will of the voters prevail in L/ stone, Chama and Muchinga constituencies.

  28. class   July 3, 2012 at 7:46 pm

@kopala, how do you surely say all tongas are fools & behave like animals?!, may God forgive you for you do not knw what you are doing!, lets coment like pipo who think and be analytic pliz, in each tribe there are inteligent pipo & foolish pipo, and am sure you are one of the unwise pipo from yo tribe

  29. Mwape D   July 3, 2012 at 7:54 pm

Sometimes I see idiocy in some people. Can Bembas in Kasama vote for HH? This tribal superiority complex is not good in a country with many tribes. Bembas soon will be hated by many tribes because of superiority complex.
Imagine one chief Chimbaka on Mobi said he will only criticise PF when he dies. Nkaya mwandi. Sometimes I try to ignore these setiments but it is too much mwandi. We are going back to ONE PARTY SYSTEM.

  31. Scotson   July 3, 2012 at 8:52 pm

I find that hard 2 undastnd even as a PF’ier. Development should not be anchored on people’s political affiliations, everyone is entitled to it on no condition. That is, really, a bad campaign message.

  34. ManBuka   July 3, 2012 at 9:16 pm

The PF moto: No vote, no development in your area!! This is bullshit!! We have survived without your aid from genesis…All Zambians are tribal by birth or decent…Ukwa is the worst tribal President we have had…I know that we are all born equal except when some tribes start behaving like they own all the wisdom in Zambia…The truth is that, “All Zambian are fools!!” Why it it that the biggest fool always emanates from plot one?

  35. am a serious PF DIE HARD.   July 3, 2012 at 9:38 pm

Just for urgument sake would you say Southern province is less developed than the other provices in zambia. We thought actually sourthen comes in at number 3 after copperbelt and lusaka. devepment if looked at household level..we thought tongas in sourthen province have wealth compared to other provinces in the villages..anyone with figures from central satatics.I have a feeling the president may not actually know that southern province is richer by far than other provinces.

  36. jali   July 3, 2012 at 10:34 pm

Which area has the pf developed in the past 9 months? Let them show the people of l/stone. Forcing a bunch of unwilling ministers to kneel down, begging for a l/stone vote is not enough. Its actually a mockery to the zambians. A responsible democratic govt takes development to all the parts of the nation regardless of which party is strong in a particular area.

  37. Mwansa   July 3, 2012 at 10:38 pm

  38. hmc   July 3, 2012 at 10:47 pm

Sad to learn that some people who even think, sick and tired of this clap. Foolishness at its pick. Hw can the ho lot of these so called mins kneel, for what?

  39. jali   July 3, 2012 at 11:01 pm

The pf govt sees nothing wrong in sending cabinet ministers to camp in l/stone to campaign for akafumba? Rumor has it over zmk 4 billion tax payers money has been used by these cadre ministers on partisan duties. Unza is closed and govt is mute…now I understand why the president(then minister without portfolio) once said “zambia is not in a hurry to produce graduates coz there no jobs and we have a lot of them even doctors on the streets”. He said this when he was championing ftj’s 3rd term bid. This is still fresh in my mind.

  40. GunnerME   July 4, 2012 at 1:30 am

All the people in Zambia vote on tribal lines except the westerners, copperbelt & Lusaka. FACT! Mr. Sata please STOP ‘forcing’ people to ‘vote for the party in power for so-called development’ thats more like MMD hogwash to me!!! Leave the people to decide for themselves!

i wish to remind bloggers that these online platforms are created for intelligent discourse or debate. basic principles of civilised behaviour dictate that they must be mutual respect. i cant remember any american politician talkin tribe and other narrow interests. let us allow democracy to flourish by respectin pipo choices. development should not be tied to narrow partisan interests. sata must find some other campaign message. by the way,.southern province is developed compared to wp,np,lp,mp et

  43. Gilazi   July 4, 2012 at 5:12 am

    Ati Hungry Hyna(HH)….kekeke! Awe mwandi!
The Bloggers can make u think they are close to winning an election yet they came a distant third! Their HUNGRY HYNA has very little to offer at national level . Time is against your Party to drastically chang the mindset of the 80% who voted Against Hungry Hyna wanu. Nevers actually has a much easier task of conving the 25% of those who didnt vote MMD!
I know there are moves to have another UPND leader and HH is insulting, hateful, and opposing everything in order to look No1 Challenger hope for his Party.

  47. analyst   July 4, 2012 at 10:34 am

How many contituencies,Districts and provinces have PF Mps and yet there hasnever been the so called ‘Developmnt’? Mps are controlled by other senior officers and organs of the party and its Govt. So if the Govt is incapable of fulfiling promses belabepesha imitundu.
