SATA Opens UNZA, Management Given K34.2 Billion To Sort Out Problems

The government has given the management,(UNZALARU) 23billion, hence its up to the management, UNZALARU to ascertain the way forward.
Barely a week after UNZA students demonstrated over prolonged closure of the University, government has come to the aid of the ailing institution.

Short term solution. This Sata Government is not serious. 23Bln for UNZALARU is a good gesture but the problem is much deeper than 23Bln – only if they are ready to give UZALARU 23Bln on a yearly basis. It is very easy to solve the UNZA problem once and for all. This is just another Sata popularist move. Watch this space 12 months on.

Thats a very good act Mr President, though that did not have to take protests from students and redicule from the general public. It should be routine action.

To tumfweko management, please, stop sensationalizing headlines, its poor journalism to say the least. Unza is not yet open, but you say “SATA Opens UNZA, Management Given K23 Billion To Sort Out Problems”. This is not the only misleading headline on this site…..

What is needed are durable and sustainable solutions to the UNZA problem not these fire fighting strategies and responses. It is really sad to see a government that was so promising fail to deliver. Not even a plan has been mooted to give te Zambians the direction we are headed

Some of u arguing against mwanarob can’t read in between the lines. Yes, 23billion sounds to be a very large figure especially to a normal citizen like myself. But do u know that Unza is in dept which is much much more than the mere 23billion which just scratches the surface? A lasting solution needs really needs to b put than just offering such grants coz this is just a problem postponed to a later date

Thats the problem with this government, always acting with very little or no reasoning. 23 billion paid yes then what? it does not provide any solution to the problems of the institution. the PF government is just another nightmare we should get ready for.

Well atleast the institution can reopen now, but as others have said a long term solution is required. The key to solving this problem is UNZA management. They cannot continue relying on grants from Govt alone. There are alot of Research projects and private training programmes that go on at UNZA, what management needs to do is manage them properly so as to contribute to the university’s income. Also what happens to the monies raised from private students?
