‘Bring Back What You Stole’, MMD Told

The Open Society Foundation says the opposition MMD’s repentance as announced by party president Nevers Mumba last week is an admission of guilt that the former ruling party was corrupt.

Foundation Executive Director Sunday Chanda has told QFM News that it is important for the MMD leadership to bring back what they allegedly stole from the Zambians in order for their repentance to be complete.

Mr. Chanda says Dr. Mumba understands very well that repentance must be accompanied by restitution and that any repentance without amends will be deemed as an attempt to deceive people.

He has also slammed the MMD’s intentions to come up with an Anti Corruption committee to look into any acts of corruption within the party stating that the committee will just be a club of loyalists and one dimension whistle blowers.

Mr. Chanda adds that the decision to disown convicted party leaders is an attempt to defend and protect suspected party criminals who are seemingly untouchable.

He says if the MMD is serious with repentance, they should ask all party leaders facing corruption charges to step aside and allow the due process of the law to take its course.

Good artical but a bit misleading or misunderstood.
As far as I know, there’s a difference between REPENTANCE n RESTITUTION. Repentance is all about an individual with their God. Repentance is about Change of ones mind from earthly things to Heavenly things.Repentance is about having d right attitute toward God & self. TRUE repentance can only be meassured by ones work or behavour proving true/ total change. If repentance is between man n God, then who is Mr Chanda to request proof. What if they r repentancing about murder they comitted, how do they bring back the dead?. Let us be real n NOT start playing God. If one says they have repentated, who r we to dispute. Msybe we can meassure their sincererity by their conducts henceforth n not was was returned.

The PF cant even establish what MMD stole apart from Liato’s K2billion. Incompetent govt. Even Liato’s k2billion may be drug money he earned on the streets. What about George Chella’s k1billion he has used to buy a mansion? What about k14billion owed by Mmmebe and Nchito? What about many more we are seeing. All the PF talks about is Henry Banda and Shansonga. Non starter cases.

This is so ironic,MMD is busy insisting(and actually confessing) that while in power they commited crimes(corruption) but on the other hand govt(PF) has lamentably failed to prove any of the cases and prosecutions in court as seen by all the cases involving former govt officials.Maybe govt should contract(police custody) Nevers Mumba to help with investigations because this guy is damn serious his colleagues commited crimes. Its so funny that even Henry Kapoko has started defending himself so well in court you shouldn’t be suprised if he is acquittedm.

While we acknowledge that MMD has indeed repented, can they move a step further by giving the PF constructive critiscism. They are duty bound to guide us the citizens accordingly on national issues so that we together support progressive policies brought up by the PF.Minus this they have not repented. This country needs political maturity in order for it to develop.
Finally i challenge all political parties to form an economical liasion committee which must be meeting to try and annalyse our economic path and submit to govement on needy areas. We are behind bcoz parties operate in isolation.

Chanda is correct. nevers has assumed responsibility for all of MMD’s wrongs just be his statement alone. It is only right that nevers leads the MMD into a day of reckoning where they bring back what they stole from poor Zambians.

cHANDA’S CALL IS TIMELY AND MMD MUST HEED HIS ADVICE. WHY FAIL TO BRING BACK WHAT YOU STOLE? WHAT DID YOU MEAN WHEN YOU REPENTED OF YOUR SINS? YOU STOLE FROM ZAMBIANS AND YOU MUST BRING BACK WHAT YOU STOLE FROM THEM.

When i used to watch this chanda on Muvi TV giving analysis about situations in Zambia, i thought i had been listening to an intelligent fellow until i later learnt that he is a disgruntled chap who was seeking for a job from the PF after he lost an election as an MP. Aaaaagh ABASH.
