Sources within the two opposition parties have hinted to Tumfweko that the two leaders arrived at the decision in a meeting held recently at a named Lusaka residential Lodge.
However, this development has angered some senior Leaders in the MMD who feel the former ruling party deserves a much more Luminary position than the vice Presidency saying that it is the second largest political party in Zambia.
The sources also disclosed that the meeting which was chaired by both Mumba and Hakainde was characterized by Hakainde’s big spending talk.
“Hakainde is a Problem and that is why he even failed to accept the vice Presidency in the PF-UPND pact because of his pomposity”, said the source.
The source also explained that Pastor Mumba was desperate for any position in the pact as long as it works well for the elimination of the Patriotic Front [PF] from government.
Sources claimed that some members within the MMD NEC like Chembe Nyangu, Dora Siliya and Major Richard Kachingwe have strongly opposed Pastor Mumba’s decision adding that this will divide the party.
The NEC members have since threatened to leave the Party or diselect Mumba if he doesnt rescind the decision.
But when contacted for a comment, MMD spokesperson Dora Siliya could neither confirm nor deny.

The editor of Tumfweko. I had thought this publication was based on reporting on true events! Please retract the story that UPND and MMD have entered a pact and that Dr Mumba is Veep.
Firstly MMD has no pact with UPND and no such meeting took place between myself and Mr Hichilema. In any case if there were to be discussions between the two parties, it is not the presidents to make such decisions but entire party structures would have to be involved.
MMD is not desperate for any arrangement. There are no cracks in MMD as purported by the article. Our team is united in rebranding our party and position ourselves to form government at the next election. We however continue to enjoy cordial relations with several opposition parties including the UPND.
There is absolutely no truth in this story. I wonder what your intentions are. Please check your facts with institutions and individuals named in your articles otherwise you shall lose credibility.
