This is sad news indeed. For how long are we going to wait for a dual carriage way? We have been told of them carrying out feasibility studies on the road but for how long? PF save lives by constructing a dual carriage way.

Shame…this is really bad, y is it that the number of lives claimed in accidents is sky rocketing in the PF government? Did Ukwa, Noah make a pact with the devil in exchange for power or what? God please help us. This is the time pray like the nation has ever prayed before, may the souls of the departed loved ones rest in eternal peace, tears drop.

Sad news again about this road. MYSRIP.
Solution is simple – dual carriage way and straightening of some curves that were designed in 1943. Actually from Solwezi to Livingstone we need a dual carriage. Half of the accidents can be attributed to bad drivers. The other half to poor quality road designs, poor road markings, narrow bridges and to policeman who put drums on the road at roadblocks. Can’t they buy reflective cones??? Shame!

I use this road everyday, the big trucks have no care in the world to other road users, the small vehicles are ever in cruise control , there so many aspects to look at, and for those saying that the Pf government are sacrificing pipo that’s a bunch off bull, accidents have always been happening on this road even before you was born! a dual road is all we ask for and let the patrol police be placed full time, speed limits should be put up clearly and just re introduce the speed traps and up the speeding fee!

yes we know that putting up the road is something very expensive but it can not buy a human being. Lets put the roads soonest to avoid these deaths.

@Amusanda, you are really something. It takes a normal person to reason in life. Why should a mature person like you take a serious case like this one into joke/politics(whatever you may call it). We have lost relatives from this accident and all you can say is rubish. Why cant you keep quiet if you have nothing to say. Do not recieve curses because of your silly mindset. Reason my friend. Where we need to joke, lets joke!

I was shocked when I found this accident!!! Losing precious lives in that fashion is something quite very sad. I couldn’t hold my emotions as I broke down to see those ladies lifeless. Surely enough is enough. Politicians have been singing about making the road a dual carriage way for some time now. I hope PF will move in quickly and sort out this road. Twalapwa for sure, especially that we travel on this road everyday. I just pray for the families who suffered this loss that God’s Holy spirit may strengthen them in this trying time.

This is a very dangerous road to drive on, barely a week passes without recording an accident on this road. Police are always there but when they mount a road block just know that they have a target and will normally work outside their profession ethics (more money in their pockets). In this regard, a dual carriage will help and it has been a song ever since. My appeal to GRZ is to move quickly and help the crying hearts because we cant continue losing our loved ones every day on the same road. God help us please.

Is it the Road or the road users? There must be a way of regulating things on the roads and timing of the movements of certain types of vehicles this to include partrols of the same roads, speed traps, road block and the actual ensuring that drivers are not driving under the influence of alcohol. We have lost lives on the roads, because even the speed traps sometimes are just meant to be means to make money for the Cops through nchekelako business.
Can the people resiponsible ensure that we do things properly !!!!!!

My sincere condolences to the grieving families ….. It seems our government is turning a deaf ear on our plight for adual carriage way, iit will only listen and react so quick the moment one of the prominent people especially top government officials will die on the same road….. We all know kno that prevention is better than cure and for sure some accidents can be avoided.

The road is very dangerous, I nearly was hit from behind by a speeding car when I was over-taking a truck. I really do not know why the Guy was so much in a hurry but he just was on my tail & when I tried avoiding an insane Man who was walking on the side-walk , the other driver who was following me came so fast tht he neary hit the Mad man

We need to have an “*****-proof” approach to designing our infrastructure. One of those approach is certainly having dual tracks or at the very least overtaking sections every few kilometres. We could also revisit the concept of road toll gates once the roads are widened enough…

GRZ WHY DID YOU ALLOW ZALAWI TO BUILD A GARAGE BY THE RAOD SIDE? NFCA & KAZENENE TO CONSTRUCT A FILLING STAION INSTEAD OF CONSTRUCTING A DAUL CARRIAGE WAY? BETTER STILL YOU CAN WIDEN THE ROAD AND CONSTRUCT A PAVEMENT IN BETWEEN TO SEPERATE THE DOUBLE LANE.

Actually what’s needed between Ndola and Chingola is a highway which shouldn’t be cris-crossed by pedestrians. Roads feeding into the highway must not cross it but join it one way only- not cut through it.

With the take over by government of Railway Systems, let them ensure that all heavy loads heading for the mines and Kasumbalesa border are transported by rail.
It is these loads that are damaging to our roads making them prone to horrific accidents such this one.
Its so sad to the deceased.

Its a pity, CB has money, the government DOES not care building a DUAl highway at least between these two TOWNS.
You do not need sky-rocket scientist, politician, opposition president to perceive that we need such a road. Do not talk untangeable issues at the expense of such.
Reasons are so obvious, no one would argue against such a macro project, not even UPND/MMD nor whatever guys would dispute the undertaking of such a project.
In fact, politicians can take advantage of such to push government and thereby foster their agenda ahead. We talk a lot about non-progressive issues this days at the expense of our lives.
Ive been there and I know what it means to go through such pain. MTSRIP.
Government WAKE UP! use tax payers money on curbing such tragedies. Naimwe ba opposition pressure government to work.

the question is, why do all governments current and past drag their feet when it comes to the suggestion of constructing a dual carriage way? are there some people involved in blood sacrifices in this road who influences the govt?

I’ve bn to chingola for the first time. It’s quite a nyc place with so many activities aro’d. The only prob is the situatn of a road. Indeed, dual carriage-way is the answr to mitigate horrible accidents. Let’s nt wait until many lives are lost. The issue of accidents is retarding our country’s development.
It’s even scarely to b travelling on road everyday, but then how do we conduct business??. Commerce is a life blood to development and no trading can take place without good road-network/infrastructure. I wud lyk to c the situatn wherby road signs are erected everywh’r and monitored periodically especialy along long-routes.
So many things can be said, but if we are not action oriented, then nothing will b achieved. Lets not just do the talking on media but walk-the-talk, that develpmnt will b sustained & eventually make our lovely Zambia a place everyone can brag-about.

What is a dual carriage road?Okay I just google and it is not the right suggestion. If look closely at google map you will see that this road is full of curves wondering what the engineer was thinking when designing it like that. The road meanders like a river.Any dare devil overtaking is at risk of being obscured.

There are regular reports of fatal motor accidents on this 51 km stretch of road. The problems include: Increased trafffic in general with heavy trucks slowing the traffic, several curves, reckless drivers, a high number of workers who commute to and from Chambishi, Chingola, Kitwe and Mufulira. It creates a lot of impatience. All these factors have led to an increase in accidents. Ndola -Kitwe road used to be a killer road in the 1970s. The problem was solved when the dual carriage way was constructed. Police patrols and check points need to be strengthened to weed out vehicles that are not roadworthy and dangerous drivers.Heavy penalties should be given to road traffic offenders.
