Woman Finds Out Her Husband Was Her FATHER (But Only After He Died)
A woman has spoken of the horror she felt on discovering her late husband was in fact her father.
Valerie Spruill, 60, from Doylestown, Ohio, only made the horrifying discovery through a DNA test after her husband Percy had died.
Spruill, who has three children and eight grandchildren, is now telling her story in an attempt to find her other siblings from her father.
‘It needs to be told, because children need to know where they come from,’ she told the Akron Beacon Journal. ‘And I know it hurts, because I have been devastated by this.’
The confusion began because she was looked after by her grandparents from 3-months-old.
Her mother Christine was one the ‘night ladies’ – as she called them – who testified in the 1980 trial of Summit County Probate Judge James Barbuto, who was eventually convicted of sex charges.
Valerie’s mother and father got together when he was just 15 and the number of children they had is unclear, but she is aware of six brothers.
She was cared for by her grandparents and her mother visited, although Valerie thought she was a family friend.
Aged nine, she was devastated when she found out that Christine – who died in 1984 – had been her mother. It also meant the man she thought was her father was in fact her grandfather.

But she was not told who her real father was and Valerie later met and married Percy.
Percy, who was born in Mississippi, worked in Akron as a truck driver and a parking-lot attendant.
He died in 1998 after a brief illness at the age of 60, but for years, she had heard bizarre rumours about their relationship.
She finally learned the truth about her marriage from an uncle after Percy died, and confirmed the relationship with a DNA test after finding his hairs on a brush in their room.
She does not know for certain that he was aware he had married his daughter, but she said she strongly believes he did know but was simply afraid to tell her.
Since his death, Valerie, who is retired, has been seeing a therapist to help her deal with the horrifying revelation.
Valerie has fought through serious health problems, including a lengthy hospital stay, which she believes were only brought on by the stress of discovering the traumatic family secret
She is hoping her story may help her reach additional siblings she didn’t know existed.
‘My biggest goal is to find them and let ’em know that [their mother] loved them, no matter what,’ she said. ‘And [to say], ‘Thank God she gave you away like she did me, so you could have a beautiful life.’

we also have a lot of bastards in our country. 70% of dad’s unknowingly raise up children fathered by other men. 7 out of 10 children are concieved outside the marriage. FACT!!!

this is a naked lie. just read through the story and you will notice the inconsistencies.one of them she is now 60 but in 1984 age 9 she was devasted wen christine died and learnt she was her mother.

It could be a true story,looking from were the story stated first it’s complecated and may be the old Man did that to keep his relative at one place though, bad to hear that he died he even managed to put them at one place 3 children and such a number of grand children he must be the hero.what a wisdom.

batumfweko,you are doing fine in bringing up news not comonly found in the post,times and daily mail.My wish is that you extend further to expose more about life in night clubs,live perfomances by our local artists as well other foreign artists.This because the so called modern parents would dish out moneys to their children to go out on a friday night without exactly knowing what their children will be exposed to.It is this chidren that are doing all sorts sexual and other forms immoral conducts making a function that was organised in good faith to end up with a bad name.It is very dificult to distinguish between which one is common prostitutes and which is not.The fact is you can pick any of them at anytime without facing restraint.My point is,you will contribute greatly to the prevention and minimising the spread of HIV through any of the follwing resultant actions:
1.By exposing life in the above mentioned places,you are sending a signal to the general public as well the government.
2.With this signal,the government may come with the batter way of combating,monitoring and also controlling the much talked about under age drinking.
3.The gorvernment may be prompted to come up with measures and condition under which a night club or a certain function like live perfomances should be carried out.
In conclusion,this would go a long way in preventing HIV/AIDS infections and bring about a change of behaviour from the youths.

i conquer with those that find alot of inconsistencies in this story, look at marriage procedures in the states, its not these bush marriages we see around its a damn process, which has even been revised to make it a bit simpler, this lady heard pipo saying staff about them when the man was alive, what then possed her to make the DNA after he was gone, if it is true then it is likely that the man knew. Marriage in the states has alot of confirmations and considerations to be made before it actually happens, so tumfweko maybe you used a wrong term there, these guys must have just been having a spree, i daut marriage existed. Too bad for this lady, becoming a widow at the death of her father. An orphan at the death of the husband. This is double funerals,double mourning. You cry for the husband and the father at the same time
