Grill Ministers, SATA Tells Opposition MPs

Republican president Michael Sata has urged opposition Members of Parliament to grill Ministers in parliament with questions.

Opening the second session of the eleventh national assembly this morning which has been characterized by a somber mood in view of the death of former first lady Mama Betty Kaunda, as opposed to the usual pomp and splendor, President Sata who during his speech however invoked some humor with his jokes, said Ministers are in Parliament to answer questions from MPs.

President Sata says opposition Members of Parliament should grill Ministers with pertinent questions pertaining to national development.

He further stated that Ministers should present Ministerial statements to Parliament in order to give the opposition the opportunity to examine what government is doing.

And President Michael Sata says the country’s economy is on course to recording economic growth of over 7 percent.

Mr Sata says government’s target is to increase economic growth by an average of 8 percent per year.

He says the PF government will ensure that the 2013 national budget is pro-poor and economic growth is inclusive.

President Sata further stated that in order to enhance government revenue, government will review the tax system.

He adds that government will continue the process of widening the tax base by among other measures ensuring tax compliance.

The presidents speech sounds to be promising, touching, encouraging with a package of hope for many. One can really feel and tell that we’re on the right truck for national development.
This is why we voted for this person we knew him as a gallant man of Zambia who cannot let us down. Only tested leadership like him can be trusted on such positions not HH. So if HH KNOWS he cannot be trusted let him start from the base and contest one of the ward seats on PF ticket in the coming by-elections.

The president’s speech was such an excellent one. It was inclusive. He addressed all the members of the house as leaders. I thought some bloggers of this fora will learn from our president to embrace everyone. Unfortunately, Tupac, Shibobo, eric, just have proved to me that they are just mistakes of creation probably born at a burst of a condom. The president has spoken….embrace each other “vakalekale zyakamana” – no old formulae. Stop advocating tribalism.

Im a tonga married to a ngoni and a bemba woman.I have two sisters married to Bemba men.We have never experienced hostility from any member of our families as the one you guys are trying to exhibit against Tongas.
Tongaland is very vast(Southern,Central and Lusaka),just as is Bembaland. When people say Bembas are thieves it does not mean that all Bembas are thieves NO!!.
If HH is a tribalist, it doesnt mean that Wilbur Simusa,Winter Kabimba,Emmanuel Chenda to mention just a few are a tibalists too,NO.Pliz spare the Tongas.
I leave in Eastern Province and I stayed part of my life on the Copperbelt and I know how tribalism is practiced among the people found there.
Let us learn to live as bros and sisters and not as foes!!!
