Dear Editor,
Am concerned as to where Zambia is headed. Firstly i want to talk about opportunities, jobs, higher education and health.
1. jobs, first qualification: One is an educated Zambian and not because he knows someone or knows someone who knows someone,, this should be FOUGHT and PHASED out to the core if Zambia is to be competitive and be on a fast pace to development, technological innovation and high powered skills among Zambians, this thing of “I have connection has dragged our nation on tortoise pace and we wont see any change in the next 50 years we will continue moving round the same circle expecting coordinates to change while we seemingly do the same thing over and over expecting a different result” madness in short”
2. education: education system need to be revised to suit the current local and international trends.. teachers need to be well equipped with resources such as computers and should have access to high speed INTERNET to allow them do research and be abreast with latest information to give students, computer/ labs should be introduced in all high schools to prepare the young generation for future challenges in the computer world. teachers should be motivated both materially and immaterially so that they can love their jobs and produce quality high school graduate.. new programs should be introduced at high institutions of learning which will solve problems which have not yet occurred in our Zambia and the world as a whole” all in all my main point of emphasis is” this useless culture of whom you know and not what you know should come to an end with immediate effect if we are to see a positive change in Zambia. A Zambia ‘ where young men and women with potential will be given equal opportunities based on their qualification and not because they know someone who knows someone who knows someone…
3. environmental degradation is the main cause of so many water born and air born disease in Zambia” cholera” is a major example and pneumonia among other diseases, the government should come up with strict laws geographically so as to rule out which parts of the country are the major contributors to environmental destruction.. why spend billions of kwacha to buying medicines when millions can be spent to curb the source of these diseases??
rules should govern everyone one whether someone is a KAPONYA” NGWANWAZI ” UNLAWFUL STREET TRADERS.. WE NEED A CLEAN ZAMBIA, WE NEED A HEALTHY ZAMBIA A HEALTHY FUTURE AND A HEALTHY PEOPLE,, I END HERE,, PLEASE Tumfweko ”IF THIS CAN BE PUBLISHED” EVERY JOURNEY STARTS WITH A STEP AND PUBLISHING IT LOCALLY IS THAT FIRST STEP…!!
CONCERNED ZAMBIAN.

first and foremost i agree to disagree disease prevention is finding the source of disease but what you should know is that you dort run the economy in this country foreigners do,you dort buy drugs you are just given by the rich countries who regard them as a grant or aid if all the people think like you think then we can move foreward i have being a graduate but what we learn at UNZA are quiet different with the enviroment that why in Zambia the people who do better are those who have never been to school because educated people end up geting confused with a lot of theories and dort implement anything look at how educated people have failed to plan lusaka,we need a Zambian syllambus which is in Tonga, bemba ETC,we need a revolution change both in the mind and the way we run our affairs , 48 years after independence more than 25000 graduates from universities have graduted but most of them were in Kaunda regime,Chiluba regime,Mwanawasa regime,RB regime they continued misleding this leaders even today we see them, What we need are skills The approach of PF is in the right direction of skills training centres I think the Russian way is the best this students should do more field work during thier degree programs

Which UNZA did you go to? which school where you in? What did you major in?Your analysis and misspelling tells a lot that you have never set foot on any campus, that also goes for the disgruntled writer of the article.

Heavens are smiling because Tumfweko has brought us something worth discussing and Tupac has not insulted(haha, love you bro). I pick one issue from your letter and it is our standard of education in Zambia. Do you know that our GCE or Grade 12 is only equal to grade 11 in countries like South Africa? The problem is the outdated knowledge being dished out by our ill-equipped, ill-motivated teachers using syllabi that has not been revised to suit contemporary society. Computers are what is prevailing in this age thus, for research purposes of pupils as well, it is only right to introduce them in high schools. May I lastly point out that subjects taught in our schools are just too many thus do not allow room for pupils to pick subjects in line with their career path and major in them. This is detrimental even to the performance of pupils who are over loaded with subjects they will never use in life.

University studies do not train you for a JOB, they make you employable! That is wwhy they are research based. A real graduate may even go further to be a job creator. Sadly, most lumperns come out of UNZA as beggers for jobs.

At times people should learn to tell the truth. The NCZ management were given money to pay retires up to date the beneficiaries have not been paid instead they been paid financial stories. NCZ management started buying time by mentioning the issue of ghost workers over two months they are still sorting out ghost workers and they have not got not even one. Any delay from Govt invention then NCZ will be like Mulungushi textiles where the employees have to wait until the there is a change of Govt. I suspect NCZ management have deposited the money in a FIXED DEPOSIT ACCOUNT which has not yet matured. NCZ retires were even planning to go State House immediately after the head of State arrived from South Korea why. Because of the tricks NCZ management are using now. Am not an NCZ employee but I have friends within NCZ circles. They are other dirty financial activities going on.

In western countries, an appreticeship certificate is better regarded than a university degree. Why? Hands on experience is better than all the theories when it comes to adding value to a business or company.
Many of u bloggers worry n critise each other on spelling / gramma but at d end of d day, you are all communicating. An english man would tell u, differences in spelling but same meaning. It doesn’t matter d spelling or typos coz at d end of d day, english is a foreign language to every african man n woman. Chapwa!

University Education is not geared towards skills required by most companies, esp. in IT. This is not only demoralizing to students but detrimental to their development.
