African champion coach Herve Renard has named a 24 man strong squad to face 2013 Nations Cup hosts South Africa in the November 14 Nelson Mandela Challenge match at Soccer City in Johannesburg.
Unveiling the list to fazfootball.com, FAZ spokesperson Erick Mwanza said the match was important in setting the tone for the African champions before the provisional squad for Zambia’s title defence is announced.
“As we have demonstrated over the last five years, FIFA International Calendar dates are an integral part of providing the Chipolopolo an opportunity to get together and work together. In playing these matches, we continue our wonderful development path which is aimed at sustaining and enhancing our high levels of competitiveness,” Mwanza said adding: “Herve Renard is taking this match with the seriousness it deserves and while we are going into to win it, the main thrust is for the players to enjoy the time together and keep the African winning championship spirit going. We are looking forward to the match which is the venue of the opening and closing ceremonies and without taking anything for granted, it’s a venue we would like to return to on 10th February next year.”
In a squad which has seen the return of Orlando Pirates robust striker Collins Mbesuma, there were no major surprise inclusions or exclusions as The Fox retrained the greater majority of the squad which won the Nations Cup last February. Since calling the duo for the final Nations Cup qualifier against Uganda early this month, Renard has maintained midfield teenagers Mukuka Mulenga and Shadreck Malambo.
Top striker Jacob Mulenga, a leading goal scorer in the Dutch Eredivise, is included and fans who have not seen him a Chipolopolo shirt for a year now will hope the highly rated sharp-shooter will make his long awaited return to action when Chipolopolo take on a Bafana Bafana side which has not been to the last two Nations Cup finals and makes a return only in 2013 as hosts.
The full squad:
Kennedy Mweene (Free State Stars, RSA), Danny Munyau (Red Arrows), Joshua Titima (Power Dynamos), Emmanuel Mbola (FC Porto, Portugal), Joseph Musonda (Golden Arrows, RSA), Davies Nkausu (SuperSport United, RSA), Chintu Kampamba (Unattached), Stoppila Sunzu (TP Mazembe, DRC), Hichani Himoonde (TP Mazembe, DRC), Nathan Sinkala (TP Mazembe, DRC), William Njobvu (Hapoel Be’er Sheva, Israel), Noah Chivuta (Free State Stars, RSA), Isaac Chansa (Henan Jienye, China), Mukuka Mulenga (Power Dynamos), Rainford Kalaba (TP Mazembe, DRC), Chisamba Lungu (FC Urals, Russia), Shadreck Malambo (Zanaco), Felix Katongo (Primero de Agosto, Angola), Jonas Sakuwaha (El Merreikh, Sudan), James Chamanga (Dalian Shide, China), Collins Mbesuma (Orlando Pirates, RSA), Chris Katongo (Henan Jienye, China), Emmanuel Mayuka (Southampton, England), Jacob Mulenga (FC Utrecht, Holland)

Renard and great Kalu, swallow your pride and bring back Clifford Mulenga. Otherwise the team looks balanced, no time of togetherness. We shall see, but truth is i have lost hope in Renard.

Every player like every good student should know that a student or in this case a player can never finish a coaches career but the opposite is only true. Clifford just like any other player with discipline problems will not succeed at national team level.
One can apologise and be consquently forgiven but that doesnt mean punishemnt will not be meted out.

While Clifford’s situation is understood, it is apparent that Renard doesn’t like Singuluma. the player has even been shotlisted for nomination for CAF Africa Player of the year award surely, This is unfair.
Chamanga should be dropped and that Jacob is back, Chris should also be facing substitutions. There should be no permanent numbers. He performed below par in Uganda and his team in the chinese league has been demoted.

I think players like chamanga, experienced joseph musonda and even natural striker mbesuma should be sidelined abit to pave way for the likes of Singuluma, roger kola, fwayo tembo and talented left footed crifford mulenga. The technical bench should also be fast in leading some games and substitutions they make i.e sometimes resting chris katongo if not in form for likes of sakuhuwa, roger kola and sometimes not to start felix but chisamba lungu in mid field. This is part of my observation what do u think pipo?Otherwise gud selection FAZ/coach.Go Zambia Go Chipolopolo iye x2 here we come again.

Mbesuma is the greatest hitman Zambia has ever had in the last decade. he is one accurate striker among whose many goals , few are penalties and knows what it is to work in a team, he knows the 18 box like no man’s business, sazikonda and apasila good and accurate passes, deadly in the 4,5,1 formation. I can go on he is my man and ever my man.
Thumbs up Renard.
On Clifford, how many times is FAZ going to tolerate his indespline? at under 17, 20,23 and the national team!!!

If zambia wants to retain the cup, Renald must be fired. He seems clueless as far as reading the game is concerned. He doesn’t seem to know when or who to substitute.

Good!Mbesuma is back because at least he is fit.We really need him for both Africa and world cup.Advise him to reduce weight by at least 10kg to 15kg.Believe me,the guy can do wonders. The weight is putting him at a disadvantage.Let him see doctors so that he reduces by 15kg.

Good squad Herve. Am positive the team you have picked will do us proud.
As for some of you, leave the coach and his technical team to make a team that they believe will deliver. Learn to not interfere. Most of you work with very little or no interference at all because your bosses trust and believe you are right for the job, so leave these guys to work. Too much criticism even where it isn’t necessary. I wish some of those tongues can be bitten by your own teeth after the November 14th match. Muleibwelamo fimo. I have seen more than 7 names mentioned as ‘should have been’. Where do they fit in. Ifintu fyonse ni time.

You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this topic to be actually something that
I think I would never understand. It seems too complex and extremely broad for me.
I’m looking forward for your next post, I will try to get the hang
of it!
