Maid Clobbers Boss, Makes Off With K5m Cash

A LUSAKA maid yesterday brutally beat up her employer using a cricket butt before making off with K5 million cash and a passport.

Police have launched a search for the maid only identified as Elina who on Monday robbed Sashikala Sunaram Grilam, 40, of K5 million after hitting her with the butt on the head and other parts of the body.

Police spokesperson Elizabeth Kanjela said the maid also went away with a passport belonging to Ms Grilam’s relative.

“The incident happened on November 5 this year in the evening at house number 1062, Nchanga Street in Lusaka’s Madras area.

“Ms Grilam was rushed to Coptic Hospital where she is still admitted with serious injuries. The maid has worked for three years and her employers only knew her by her first name,” Ms Kanjela said.

In Mulobezi, police have arrested a man for stealing a bull worth K 1.2 million between October 25 and November 5 this year.

The accused has been identified as Mubita Masialeti of house number 30, Mwandi Township in Livingstone.

In Kabwe, one person died on the spot while 13 others sustained multiple injuries in a road accident which occurred on Monday on Mukobeko Road around 12:40 hours.

The motor vehicle driven by Binwell Nyimbili, aged 43, of Lusaka lost control and hit into a tree.

“The vehicle, registration number ACJ 9477 driven by Mr Nyimbili driving at a high speed lost control and hit into a tree, instantly killing Greenwell Sibanda, 46, of Chief Chipepo,” she said.

Ms Kanjela said the injured victims were admitted to Kabwe General Hospital.

Meanwhile, the police command has made some changes following the promotion of Solomon Jere to the position of Deputy Inspector General of Police.

Central Province police commissioner, Joyce Kasosa, has been moved to Lusaka, taking over from Dr Jere.

Sandwell Lungu has been moved to Central Province from Muchinga Province in the same capacity.

A maid can’t just wake up and clobber you, unless she is mad and why would you then employ a mad maid. The employer must have offended the maid and that K5mn is her gratiuty. For the passport just get another one

These Indians mistreat their servants, this is the result. If I were her, I would have taken over as madam of the house, not stealing ka K5m – atase
