Nigerian Girls Invent Urine Powered Generator (PHOTOS)

Possibly one of the more unexpected products at Maker Faire Africa this year in Lagos is a urine powered generator, created by four girls. The girls are Duro-Aina Adebola (14), Akindele Abiola (14), Faleke Oluwatoyin (14) and Bello Eniola (15).

1 Liter of urine gives you 6 hours of electricity.

The system works like this:

Urine is put into an electrolytic cell, which separates out the hydrogen.
The hydrogen goes into a water filter for purification, which then gets pushed into the gas cylinder.
The gas cylinder pushes hydrogen into a cylinder of liquid borax, which is used to remove the moisture from the hydrogen gas.
This purified hydrogen gas is pushed into the generator.

The other potential project now is to look at aspects of increasing urine production in this part of the world. It is also hoped that this invention will increase market for urine but authorities fear that in a quest to increase quantities for selling, certain individuals might resort to adding water to their urine hence compromising the quality of pooe urine. Secondly, this might force people into beer drinking as it is believed that beer triggers the production of urine in human body.

Wow!! Good girls! But why urine? I wish you can invent a car that runs on urine. When one runs out of gas, you just unzip and pop it in your gas tank!! Imagine the look on the traffic police faces if the found you refuelling!!!

Bravo girls! Well improved invention. Alot is missing from the explaination. The genset was previously powered by a hydrocarbon, and the engine now has started running on hydrogen, be serious. It possible but not how it’s been explained.

So where do these silly girls think they will ‘harvest’ sufficient quantities of urine to produce this en masse?!!! Unless of course drunkard ‘christian’ zambians start exporting urine from all the gross quantities of beer that we drink. Who knows, we might start eraning more from exporting urine than exporting copper

Good invention. this may reduce guys urinating on walls in streets so as to keep the generator running. LOL!

i hope the picture shown isn’t of the real girls. If so then how is a gen set that runs on a hydrocarbon, as the previous blogger said, run on such fuel?

This is not an invention. It has been experimented on already even here in Zambia and it works. The girls only improved on it. It is good improvement though.

This is making something out what you have, as for me i’ll say, this is just another way God is informing the govt that are over raising fuel price, dat though i made fuel to run the engine, but fuel isnt the only power source for running machines.
