29 Police Officers Killed As They Attempt To Recover Stolen Cattle

At least 29 Kenyan police officers are now known to have been killed in Saturday’s attack, as they attempted to recover stolen cattle.

The officers were ambushed in Baragoi, in the northern Samburu County.

A police spokesman told the BBC that 29 officers had been killed, along with three of the attackers, but local elders say that more bodies could still be discovered.

Local communities often clash over cattle and grazing rights.

A similar attack, in which 12 people were killed, took place nearby two weeks ago, Kenyan media reports.
