Girl Insists General Kanene Defiled Her
A WITNESS has testified that musician Clifford Dimba, popularly known as General Kanene, forced himself on her during the alleged defilement.
The witness, who is also a victim, said Kanene had sexual intercourse with her against her will.
This was during cross-examination when the matter came up for continued hearing before senior resident magistrate Rodgers Kaoma yesterday.
The musician is charged with defilement of a child under the age of 16 contrary to the Laws of Zambia.
“Kanene forced himself on me after he ordered me to take off my clothes. I took off my clothes after Kanene told me to do so,” she said.
The victim said the musician took her in his arms and threw her on the bed and had carnal knowledge of her.
She said the act was painful although Kanene claimed that he felt “nice”.
The minor said she went with Kanene to his friend’s house and spent a night with him but they did not have sexual intercourse.
She said Kanene told her to bath before going home the following day.
The victim said she went to the police to report the incident on February 1, this year, a day after she was allegedly defiled and the doctor examined her on February 2.
She said despite the two-day lapse before reporting and being examined, she did not have any sexual intercourse with any person after Kanene allegedly defiled her.
The victim maintained that even after she had bathed and was clean Kanene defiled her and she was examined by a medical doctor at the University Teaching Hospital.
In examination-in-chief, she said she was born in 1998 in Namwala but she has never seen her birth certificate because the document was burnt in the house her parents were living in a long time ago.
The victim said Kanene begged her to stay with him after the alleged defilement and told her that his parents would take her home the following day.
Particulars of the offence are that Kanene allegedly had sex with a girl under the age of 16.
The offence is alleged to have been committed on unknown dates but between January 31 and February 1, 2012 in Lusaka.
The matter comes up on November 19 for continued trial.
