Musokotwane Challenges SATA To Spearhead Job Creation Personally Like He did to RDA

Situmbeko Musokotwane
Liuwa constituency Member of Parliament Situmbeko Musokotwane has urged Republican President Michael Sata to personally spearhead employment creation in the country.

Speaking in an interview with Qfm News, Dr. Musokotwane who is former finance minister in the previous government says President should apply the same urgency he has exhibited in overseeing the operations of the Road Development Agency (RDA) in dealing with the thorny issue of unemployment.

Dr. Musokotwane says unemployment is a biggest challenge in Zambia at the moment which needs the President Sata’s vigour and zeal.

The Member of Parliament has noted that the pace at which the current government is tackling the issues of unemployment is worrying.

He says government has made so many pronouncements with regards to job creation without any visible tangible results.

The PF government is recruiting Agriculture extension staff for the first time in many years. MMD failed lamentably on this score. teachers are bing recruited. Health staff have been recruited. Mines are opening and employing people.

NCZ has been recapitalised to allow for job creation. Zambia Railways is being revamped and so crate jobs for many people. What is job creation?

  6. GOOD OLD DAYS   November 22, 2012 at 10:38 am

Let PF work work at their own pace. I think they know what they are doing and DO NOT hurry them. They are far much better than you the MMD. So please reserve your thoughts, if you can’t, share them with your wife and kids. NEXT!

Musokotwane is right sata should monitor companies like kcm since 2006 it has never advitised nor emproy any zambian despite the big exodus thru vss which is same as pruning and retirement.kcm never replace zambian labour only their indian folks isbeing replaced eg at nchanga concentrator, smeter and op engineering they are no permanent kcm only casuals.kcm’s coparate responsibity is too cosmetic and oneway of corrupting the govt.plse kambwili visit kcm and talk to workers you wil only meet contractors with very few kcm employees

We appreciate your concern as youths but we would love you to suggest by what methods and by implementing what sort of tacts.Better still name the foundation that as MMD these were the basics that you laid down as a foundation for Job creation.Ranting job creation without offering solution will not give you any credit. As youths we believe Job creation is not for the government alone but involves everyone.Take for instance,as an individual mr Musokotwane, whats the name of your bussiness or company and how people have you employed? if you have employed 20 people it means you have taken 20 people out of the streets and if you former ministers and MPs are wise enough, you would have come up with various ventures in variuous sectors of the economy ie construction, tourism, farming, transport, aviation, wood processing, mining, financial, microfinancing etc….and with gorvernment support employment would have been created. But the problem is most of you, the money you have was either corruptly or dubiusly acquired and you fear prosecution and thus, you would rather hide it in foreign accounts rather than offloading it on to the local economy.Help us please by providing solutions and if the current gorvernment fails to implement some of your solution,we here to judge their perfomance and come 2016…hmmmmmmmmm who knows, you might bounce back mr musokotwane.Your talking about unemployment without offering any solutions as to how it can be handled is tantamount to the same uterances we hear from the ruling party and does not make any difference.

Musokotwane knows what it takes to create employment .He created very little for 10 years when he was in government. This task is not a simple one,am a zambian who deals with the same issue here in the UK.Even here where resources are more ubandant, it still remains elusive. My advice to him is that BALEKE BABOMBE.

  17. Bob   November 22, 2012 at 1:44 pm

Dishounarable Musokotwane, I appreciate yo concern. However what did you do for us? Your rants are nonsense. Seleni Tubombeko.

  18. Mwanalesa   November 22, 2012 at 1:55 pm

So may I ask mr musokotwane, in your opinion, are you saying that the implementation of the numerous road construction projects under the rda shall not create more jobs for our people? You had so much time as minister of finance and yet you failed to influence this very creation of jobs and now you want to come out as being the most principled of individuals.
It’s funny that when our hard working president choses to take the initiative of ensuring that projects move forward expediently, unlike at the snails pace it did under mmd, you suddenly develop a conscious, how idiotic and hypocrytical.
Have some credibility and grow a back bone. Furthermore please emulate the professinalism honorably afforded your profession.

  19. Chita   November 22, 2012 at 2:00 pm

shut your mouth you baboon. you talking of Job creation when you as an individual and govt failed to provide anything of that sort. Poverty levels escalated during your rein and the rich became richer while the poor where reduced to dust. you should be ashamed of yourself. if you have nothing to say simply SHUT UP.

  21. pule   November 22, 2012 at 5:53 pm

Its good that you can now accept the level of unemployment which you never did. You have left a serious thorn than unemployment! ie corruption in the civil service. There so many qualified personnel in government who can replace corrupt HOds, so called senior officers living in the past and are like nematodes ie block PF quality service delivery. Twanaka naimwe SELENI TUBOMBEKO NAIFWE because we have what it takes. you gave your selves big posts in civil service prior to september 2011. We are watching you……………

  23. Mutototo   November 22, 2012 at 6:13 pm

The PF government promised us heaven on earth, and it is for a fact that we are informed of what measures government is putting in place as regards to employment. Why wait upto 2016 to start scrutinising govt?

  24. SK   November 22, 2012 at 6:23 pm

It is a pity that an economist like Musokotwane fails to link government investment in infrastructure construction and jobs. These projects cannot build themselves, they will need people to be employed to work on them. These MMD guys talk about infrastructure development as if it falls from the sky and people are not needed for construction. This guy is so negative, in all the time he was a Finance Minister, ha has failed to mention even one program he initiated to reduce unemployment in the country. On the ZRL issue he made the same weak excuse which they used to offload the companies. This is our country, Let the guys do their job, you had your chance and blew it!

  26. MT   November 22, 2012 at 11:32 pm

Mr.Musokotwane you careless about the unemployed when you in Office. You did not care for the workers let us give credit where it is due.PF has increased the minimum wage it a path towards the right direction and right now this Govt (PF) is setting up a stage to increase and create jobs in the private sector, You had 20 years please give the Sata Govt time.I am not MMD or PF but PF is on the right track

  27. Teleshi Kabemba   November 23, 2012 at 9:25 am
