Former Anti Voter Apathy (AVAP) Project Executive Director Bonny Tembo says the defection of MMD chairman for election should serve as a lesson to the MMD on the need to urgently resolve its internal conflicts.
Mr. Tembo, who is now Patriotic Front member, has since commended Mr. Namulambe for taking a bold decision of announcing his defection to the PF.
Speaking to QFM news, Mr. Tembo says the MMD needs to realize that internal dialogue is key for the growth of any organisation.
Mr. Tembo says although by-elections are a cost to the nation, they are also a way of keeping the Electoral Commission of Zambia and political parties in the country active.
MMD chairman for election, Gabriel Namulambe this morning announced his immediate resignation from his party to join the ruling patriotic front.
He has also relinquished his parliamentary position.

I do not agree with Tembo´s statement that “although by-elections are a cost to the nation, they are also a way of keeping the Electoral Commission of Zambia and political parties in the country active” It was better for him to just shut up than trying to insult many Zambians who are working just to fund bye election because of people who are not principled. I do not agree to that statement. Its only in Zambia it can may be keep political parties and ECZ active not in Europe or AMerica and elsewhere on earth

Politics ya njala- Njala yamu nyokola Namulambe.
Sadly, you can bet that he will get the full backing of the powers that be in the coming by-elections.
BA KATEKA, how come your stance has suddenly changed on these by-elections? Ba sata promised to bring an end to this nonsense.
The best way to put a stop to the rubbish is for PF not to adopt Namulambe in the by-election….(but then, he was assured of that long before he defected).

I have a question for Jazzman,Namulambe,Masumba and all other idiotts coming to join PF after winning the elections. This has nothing to do with intra party fights, these fackin idiotts planned these moves way back before the elections. And its foolishh of PF to allow these baggaz to recontest their seats.Bonny Tembo wabebolo waumfwa, zambia has a lot of issues such as army worms,m/meal shortage, unemployment etc which need attention and yet iwe wekabwa akanono u say by elections are fine to keep ECZ active.Bati ulikabwa zoona pushi iwe.

Today marketeers, taxi drivers and street kids have become wiser than Sata, Kachingwe, Namulambe, Masumba and all those MPs planning to leave MMD for PF jobs. What is honourable about causing a bye election when the country is beset with numerous problems that need money? Sata claims that that is democracy but I want to find out why his definiton of democracy is selective! When it suits him he oppresses the opposition in the name of POA. When the masses starve, he is mute. Surely these monies that we are wasting, we can give to Zesco to address load shedding nightmares but like I said, wisdom has left the so called man of action because he can now afford a good life.

Bonny Tembo, you are a fool a highest degree! I repeat, You are a fool. Some of you people do not deserve a place on this earth. I mean, why should you live if you can support someone doing that, causing unnecessary acceleration to poverty levels in our nation? I REPEAT… BONNY TEMBO, YOU ARE A FOOL… A VERY BIG FOOL. FOOL INDEED!!!!!!!

Unless we put it in our constitution that an mp who defects to another party must not recontest the sit, otherwise tax payers’ money will continue going into the toilet.

Fellow country men and women these defections we are witnessing in this country are not to the benefit of any well meaning zambian except a few selfish individuals. Think for a breaf moment of how much resources go towards these by- elections, they re quiety huge. These same resources if taken to the same areas for developmental projects e.g. health care or education under the leadership of the same MP can bring un anprecedented developments in this country. come on people right now Zambia may hold even ten by-elctions at a go but to whose benefit?. These same resources if taken to the healthy sector a lot of improvements can be seen.right now if you go to these our hospitals, the health care falls bellow the accepteble standards, inadquate medical supplies, poor or no linen.
If we can manage to throw resources in this manner then the government has got no proper reason whatsoever not to be obliged in implementing the INTERNATIONAL COVENANT ON ECONOMIC,SOCIAL AND CULTURAL RIGHTS.
PLIZ OUR LEADERS GET THE SAME RESOURCES YOU ARE SPENDING IN THESE UN PROFITABLE BY-ELECTIONS AND IMPROVE LIVES OF THE GENERAL POPULOUS AND NOT TO SATISFY THE INDIVIDUALS’ WHIMS AND CAPRICES.
After a by election a poor woman in Mpongwe will still go without proper food, no proper medical facility, no proper maternity for a poor espectant mother. Mr. Namulambe think about those people beyond your personal interest.

The assertion aTembo makes that “although by-elections are a cost to the nation, they are also a way of keeping the Electoral Commission of Zambia and political parties in the country active” is without any doubt the “stupidest” statement of 2012. At a time when so many priority areas are going without funding, a nation like Zambia cannot afford to waste such a collosal amount of money on wicked engineered bye election that save no purpose at all besides soothing the egos of stinking political opportunists. As a nation, the opportunity cost of these useless bye elections is catastrophic. My advise is the MMD should immediately disband, UPND shouls also quit the pact with MMD, they are a sinking boat.

I THINK THE FORMER MMD MPS JOING PF MUST HAVE BEING LEFT TO BE JUST MEMBERS AND NOT GIVEN CHANCE TO STAND IN A BY – ELECTION.WE HAVE A LOT OF PROBLEMS AS A COUNTRY AND WE SHOULD NOT CONTINUE VOTING FOR SELFISH LEADERS WHO JUST WANT TO BELONG RULING GOVERNMENTS.
H.E. MR. MC SATA NEEDS A PROPER ADIVSOR AND NOT FISHERS FOR MEN WHO CONTINUE POINTING FIGURES AT ONE ANOTHER
wE HAVE PLACES THAT HAVE RUN OUT OF MEAL MEALIE AND WE NEED TO SPEND THIS MONEY ON BY-ELECTIONS.WE ARE NOT EXERCISING OUR DOMOCRAY PROPERLY.

only if the consititution bared people from recontesting seats after jumping ships we wouldnt be having these costly by elections. most of these resignations are not made in good faith .this jabroni trend is costing the country huge amounts of money which could be used for national development.
on the other hand i would wellcome the resignation of mr kabimba and hon.GBM on moral grounds to pave way for for investigations on their alleged corroupt practices.
