CRISIS: Now Kitwe Town Runs Out Of Mealie Meal

There is a critical shortage of mealie meal in Kitwe town on the Copperbelt with those having the commodity selling a sack at K80,000.

A survey carried out in Kitwe found that most outlets such as Shoprite, Antelope, Olympic milling near Chisokone market and other supermarkets had run out of the commodity.

The commodity is being smuggled in the near by Democratic Republic of Congo whose demands has increased with a sack selling at K150,000.

    Next year there z no need of selling maize to FRA coz they hav kept tones & tones of maize just rottin in de w.house’s while pipo ar sufferin, why?????

    Ba tumfweko ba fikala bring real isues,which kitwe are you talking about? Am in kt & every mealing shop has the comodity just this afternoon I was buying ubunga from olympic milling which was full of the comodity.be real matole yenu mwaumfwa?

    Its really a shame to have a crisis like this one in this new government while we have tonnes and tonnes of maize at variouse FRA depots.This crisis is just created by ****** and foolish selfish leaders of the new government.Let’s watchout zambians!!

    LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,IGNORE THIS ARTICLE FOR IT IS NOT TRUE THAT WE HAVE RUN OUT OF MEALIE MEAL HERE IN KITWE. A LOT OF OUTLETS HAVE STOCKS OF THE COMMODITY AND I HAVE JUST SEEN PLENTY OF IT AT TAKKIS FEELING STATION 20 MIN AGO

    i know tht tumfweko can sometimes tell lies but lets look at this story from a different perspective. i have noticed tht the shortages are either along boarder towns all those near to them. pupil smuggle all the mealie meal and remain with nothing to eat.a bag is fetching k150 who can resist such business though illegal?
