Women and their Extravagant Beautifying Budgets

Dear Editor,

Men and women of goodwill, we need to double check our spending on certain things. Thus I seek your critical examination: why do females spend so much money just on hair and cosmetics in the name of innovation and sophistication? Why spend too much on Brazilian or Indian hairs? Why spend K1, 000,000.00, K1, 500,000.00 or even as much as K2, 000,000.00 on disposable Brazilian or Indian hairs? Are they not proud of their Natural-Beautiful-Dark African hair?

Why are some women egocentric in spending million/s just on hair alone? Beautifying oneself is great and something I do appreciate. I believe it is the responsibility of a man and woman to complement each other. But beautifying oneself should not be a very egocentric veracity and not thinking of tomorrow. I see the mindset of not thinking about tomorrow becoming more evident in some women who behave like children.

They want the whole world to stand still has while they modify themselves from naturalness to artificialness. I call this temperament self-centeredness which is tantamount to babyish mentality. Sadly, some men have become prey to this mentality. They suffer to please they partners and not talking about it at home, they come to share their pain in public on how their monthly earnings are drained by Brazilian or Indian hairs.

The following are some of the emotion expressed by some: “These women of nowadays, they are too expensive and too selfish. We paid large sums of money when marrying them. We keep spending more even after marrying them all in the name of love. They do not know that before they came into our lives, family was part of us. They monitor our ATM and want to determine how much we give our parents and relatives.

Some have become FBIs – Former Black Individuals. Some lacked attention when they were young. They want the whole world to be evolving around them. They have no sense of common good and looking out for interest of others.”

And some men say, “Females, they never seize to amuse me. I keep wondering and asking myself why they think they are the only ones who want attention and fat budgets. My wondering does not mean that I am against women beautifying themselves. NO. I am just concerned with the amount of money spent on disposable every month. They buy once and never use them again. We men buy the hair clippers once and it takes time to have it replaced.”

Ladies, mind how you spend. Do not go into a relationship to dab the pockets of your partners. They too have needs to attend to. They have families to take care of. You are not they only one in their lives. They came from a family and they have to still care for their families.

Some have forgoten that black is beautiful now they are turning thmselves into pan bricks which is very sad, spending on our women is not a bad idea but how they use the money is really what matters.A wife who spend the money wisely is really a good wife moreover natural ladies look more beatiful than those who always turn themselves into GOD knows

Good observtion micheal, but I think there is no harm on spending any amount on our beloved ones as long as it doesn’t affect our budgets after all we feel great to see our partners look more beautiful. The problem with some of us is that we force ourselves to acquire what is beyond our reach so spend according to what you earn, period!!!

I have not issues too living within the means and spending! But they have to know how to spend. Too much money on hair when I can only spend K20,000. 00 once a month! Some spend a Million! Is it realistic?

I earn enough money to buy my brazilian/indian hair and whatever fashion accessories I desire. My husband earns good money and spoils me too. Nothing wrong with looking clean and beatiful just because you cant afford doesnt mean everybody cant…you are the same men who leave your ‘natural wives’ with all their scruffiness and admire women on the street

Natural is beautiful yes, there is nothing wrong to do some beatifying to it here and there! but not to exaggerate like most of our ladies are doing! how can a full time house wife like my wife demand these things? she is always home with my children and cooking for me. why buy such things? but when she starts working she will have enough money to afford that!

Materialism is what is eating us as women and as humans. I believe every spending is a moral issue. If you spend all that on hair, then what does your conscience say? Am a woman, every spending I indulge in, I ask myself if my spending is ethical and morally right!Women should know they are beautiful with soap and water, spoil yourself once in a while but in a moral way.

The main reason why ladies always go to these so and so hair/nail/ whatever parlours is because they understand Men very well. One above declares she turns heads because you men look to the surface. Often too fast and dull to see what is hidden.

But beaware when the product fades on the market, you keep it alive by among others, improved packaging and labelling because buyers will take it for the package. Eg Village Chicken to Improved Village Chicken to New Improved Village Chicken to New Tasty Improved Village Chicken. The dull people are you men. Ladies viva improved visible packages!

@Ayoba, I like your intelligent and soul-searching comment, keep it up! Agreed! It’s not really a question of affording to spend big on Brazilian hair, skin-bleaching creams, etc, but an issue of morality. African women, be proud of your natural beauty, do not indulge and enslave yourselves in the name of modernity

IF A MAN LOVES A WOMAN BECAUSE OF BRAZILIAN HAIR THEN THERE IS A PROBLEM. A WOMAN MUST BE CONFIDENT THAT HER MAN OR HUSBAND LOVES HER JUST BECAUSE OF HER NATURAL SELF. EVEN IF BRAZILLIAN HAIR COMES LATER YOUR MAN WILL NOT LOVE YOU MORE BECAUSE OF BRAZILLIAN HAIR BECAUSE HE ALREADY LOVES YOU VERY MUCH. BUT IF HE LOVES YOU BECAUSE OF THE BRAZILLIAN HAIR JUST KNOW YOUR RELATIONSHIP WILL NOT LAST BECAUSE THERE ARE OTHER WOMEN WHO WILL LOOK BETTER THAN YOU WITH THEIR HAIR STYLES AND YOUR HUSBAND’S OR MAN’S ATTENTION WILL BE TRANSFERRED TO SOMEONE ELSE. HAVE YOU HEARD JIM REEVES SINGING: “I LOVE FOR A HUNDRED THOUSAND REASONS, BUT MOST OF ALL I LOVE YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE YOU” OR MAMPI SINGING “NDALAMA ZIMASILA, ZIKASILA TIZACITA BWANJI. IKASILA MONEY KULIBE LOVE. TIZASUNGANA BWANJI?” SO IKASILA MONEY NO BRAZILLIAN HAIR AND THAT IS THE END OF LOVE.

Men who sounds stingy, can blame women who can afford a slice of bread, some idiots do not just give women some cash they do the shoping for the house themselves. I married my husand 15 years now, I can assure you I do most of the things, I support even the mother, he sometimes threatens to leave me, I also give him a goahead, and I know the type of man he is, no woman will stay, he will ask for money for his mother and will gladly give, so such type of men, what do you expect, the only thing to buy you life boy every day. I stick around because I love him and I have accepted him besides we have four kids. otherwise another working lady would not stay long with such kind of a man. He can have a girlfriend but am sure she can last because he is shorthand.

individuals spending habits ranges from one class to another some get as high as K15million so they can afford so let those who can afford afford, because they are reasonable wigs on the market which wen a woman plaits she will still look good and for men why pretend to your woman that you can afford to buy her brazilian hair when she,s actually stretching your budget, be real en tell her you can exceed such en such amount on hair period…..

I have natural black kinky hair and its a pain. I’m constantly covering it in cheap weaves and braids. If I could afford expensive weaves I’d always use them.
On bleaching the skin that’s a big NO NO for me but only coz its irreversible, if it was reversible or changeable like weaves and braids are, I would try it. Not because I’m not proud of my natural skin and hair but coz it’s good to try something different.
I sneer at those that look good with their bleached skin and expensive hairdos not coz I think its wrong but merely coz I’m envious. No courage to bleach and my skin would react badly, rashes and black n yellow syndrome and no money for expensive weaves.
