Reply To Nawakwi On Aimless Defecting MPs

The Editor,
I write in response to Ms Edith Nawakwi’s sentiments that ‘when’ she comes to power Defecting MPs will be banned from recontesting their seats. Why should we wait that long?We are currently repeling our constitution. This is the time to advocate for that change in the constitution.
Even the poaching of MPs,I fail to understand why MMD and UPND complains about it.The law allows it,so why not take advantage.I mean which ruling party needs a strong opposition, none.
If I had a girlfriend, it would be foolish of me to encourage or promote other men to have access to her.Monopoly is human nature unless cartelled by law or otherwise. So lets make the change NOW!
Zedian.

good point here. lets lobby for a new constitution NOW and all these nonsense we are seeing and grumbling about will be a thing of the past. by the way, havent you wondered why these opposition leaders are not talking about a new constitution but are more vocal on the public order act? simple, if by chance, GOD FORBID, one sneaks into state house as president today, he/she would want to find the contitution in its current form so that he/she enjoys the benefits that go with this useless piece of paper we are calling a constitution. even the late mwanawasa said it.

Lets add a clause that allows for bye elections only when an INDEPENDENT MP/Councillor dies or resigns. In situations where an MP belonging to a political party resigns or dies, let that particular party provide a replacement until the five-year term of that parliament expires. That way we shall do away with the “MP prostitution”.

I have nothing to say about the topic. I think all the comments are well placed and somehow educative. My worry is about people that have nothing to say except to insult like Jay something something mubobo. Please keep your insults to self becuase the rest of us want to contribute positively to the livelyhood of our peacefull nation.

We need to differentiate between poaching and defecting.

Those that are poached are sought after and convincd into moving to the other side.

Those that defect do so of own will and choose to move to the other side. WHy should we apportion blame?

    Its like bakufwayila umukashi, asumina.

    or

Umukashi obe aya fwaya another man. Very different scenarios bane.
