Nollywood actress, Ngozi Nwosu has been missing in action for a while and it has raised concern.  Earlier reports had said she was ailing with a kidney problem after she was spotted looking pale and lost weight.  New findings have however emerged that the actress is in a terrible condition, believed to be in Cotonou while colleagues are on the cause of raising financial support for treatment of her HIV status.

The source who pleaded anonymity and was formerly in the service of the Nigerian Medical Research Center, Yaba, Lagos as a nurse hinted she’s HIV positive.

According to the source who was one of Ngozi`s medical counselors at the NMR, “Ngozi has been on medical surveillance since 2010. She is what I will call an HIV positive patient. Her kidney problem is as a result of her HIV complications. She used to visit the center on Wednesdays but we have not seen her for some time now”

Asked why Ngozi took off and shunned medical treatment, the source said, “Ngozi is a stubborn patient. I used to advise her to stop drinking and smoking as these habits won`t speed up her healing process fast. Worst of all, she does not take her drugs righteously. When a patient with HIV refuses to take recommended retro-viral drugs the person cannot get better. That is her problem.

Mind you when she visited the center not quite before I left we found out her DN4 was so low that we immediately raised an alarm and told her to be cautious of her her health situations and advised her to do better in taking her drugs as required. – E247”

I would like to say that this is an article written and authorised by a person without any sort of education or understanding of what this may cause for the person been talked about . Here we are fighting stigma and you tumfweko are at the top list causing it . It just goes to show your level of stupidity and lack of knowledge . You have on this showed your level of disgrace and you need help . If I were you I would do an investigation on which nurse gave you this information and have her fired .

This is a useless article. I’m a clinician who attends to HIV+ patients. I’m very disapointed with this article. Why should the media promote sigma when as health workers we are busy fighting it. Where is MISA in this case. If anything what sense is in this article. Please media be serious. This is being very careless

mwe bantu hiv is not a death sentence,so what if shes positive!Hiv diagnosis is not the end,if one takes the required medication, you live a full life but cancer patients are given a time to live,so pliz stop the stigma. And that so called nurse should be fired.WHAT HAPPENED TO PATIENT DOCTOR CONFIDENTIALITY!!!

    • Lungowe   December 23, 2012 at 7:41 pm

I know right? doctor patient confidentiality is so vital, I can’t believe the audacity of the nurse to make revelations of the woman’s HIV status.

  15. Lungowe   December 23, 2012 at 7:39 pm

Mmmh why are you scandalizing her like this? The manner in which you have reported this story sounds like the type of gossip that leads to a person being stigmatized for having the virus, which shouldn’t be the case. The poor woman, probably drinks and smokes to escape the reality of her status and fear of death and you spreading stories like this doesn’t help her.
