RTSA Incomptence & their Business Conduct Is Worrying ‘Open More Vehicle Registration Centres’

Dear Editor,

I wish to complain through this public media which allows even the poor and suppressed to be heard. The payments for road tax and fitness should be decentralized to the all the districts. Life for us who live in certain districts are disadvantaged in many ways.

I stay in Kaputa and I have to drive to Kasama for fitness and road tax. And often you are told that the system is down or the station manager is out and no one can attend to us. Often one has to spend several days in Kasama just to get the service. Its costly and not conducive for most of us who reside in far off districts. I believe this could be the same for most of the Zambian Law abiding Citizens.

Let RTSA decentralize or indeed use the police who are in all districts to issue such documents. Otherwise, we are risking a lot in just abiding by the laws of the land. Insurance firms should also use agents in the districts if they can open offices. Please can the government help the Zambian Citizens in this regard. RTSA should also look at their establishment and probably employ more staff to meet the demand and offer better service to the public.

The computers and Information Technology systems should also be reviewed to avoid the often system failures experienced. Capacity building could be an answer to some of these challenges Currently in Kasama some of us who had paid road tax on manually discs are not able to pay because the system does not have our details. Help. RTSA hear our cry. We have suffered for too long. Owning a vehicle in other districts should not be a curse.

Forget Kasama. Just come to Lusaka. You will spend the same number of days queuing up but at least the system here does not go down.

The system is pathetic. It takes hours to just get your car registered. I am a tax payer. I pay tax with the business I do. I pay tax with my formal job and many other people we need to be served as quick so that we can go and make the money so that we can pay the hideous tax.

RATSA is probably the most incompetent, disorganised, corrupt, backward and irritating! prepare to be delayed for weeks, stand in long diorganised lines and stay away from work just to register a car. Prepare to drive using a receipt for ages once your driver’s licence is expired. you are lucky if it came out, otherwise you have to start all over again (with new payments). shame indeed. A few minutes process takes ages with RATSA. It’s foolish!!

I agree with the concerns raised by the gentleman in kaputa. i feel generally as zambians we need to improve on our attitude torwards work. our country will remaoin the same as long as the current attitde continues. The employees at RTsa in Livingstone are pathetic. they have no sense of time and they think customers should beg them for the job they are paid for.they walk out of the offices anytime and come back any time they like with no explantion. they leave you seated in a queue and come back after 2 hrs , no word at all. if there is a boss in this govt.dept. i will not be surprised if he works up one day without a job. we the public are fed up and we are taking this issue further to the relevant authorities. we can identidfy the problem so lets act. Also RTSA its time you stop corrupt activities our undercover reporter is wacthing you. yuo will be exposed soon.
