The Church leadership of Lusaka’s United Church of Zambia-UCZ- Chainda congregation has shifted blame to unknown people regarding a New Year’s Day incident in which their church structure collapsed killing one person.
Congregation Treasurer, Rhoydie Chisanga, claims that unknown people cut a main string that was supporting part of the roof of the unfinished structure.
Mr. Chisanga further claims that the church used church members with specialized construction skills to build the church.

Cheap is always expensive. Why should a string support a roof? Mwalya umutuulo elyo mwakakilila akatambo ku mutenge, what do you expect? Amakwebo mu calici.

For the sake of that which you worship, I implore you to admit that you went into a building under construction and endangered the lives of your congregants. Unknown people will not be able to speak for their crimes – PLEASE!!!

Kalok, I concur with you. That is grooosss negligence, P1 mutulo. An inquest must be conducted as to why the church leadership must allow their flock to congregate in an un finished structure.

It appears they actually used very inexperienced people. The type of rope they used could not withstand the tension and so it snapped and they think people cut it!

There is something that church has one hence the punishment. There is no way that people should be congregating in unfinished buliding what does that mean. How can you invite the almighty Jehovah God in the building that is not complete, do think that he can come there? Hence the calamity.

Arrest the burgers. The construction crew did not handover the building as complete. So why use it? Builders are innocent- from insufficient Tumfweko report.

The leaders should be answerable..its a pity lives are being lost in unfinishd structures where people strengthen their faith..as christains we should have order and not give reason for people to doubt..its more than an accident if u didn’t take measures to prevent it!

How do you turn a “hard hat” construction site into a gathering place.
Who are your consulting engineers for the works? Revoke their licences to practice!
Church is important, but life is just if not more important. Culpable homicide has occurred here, yes!
If death happens on site foreman, contractor or such like should answer.
