This follows the quitting of Livingstone Memeber of Parliament Sikwila.
Livingstone Central (MP) Hon Sikwila has resigned with immediate effect from opposition UPND citing that he has being used as a blank cheque.
In a dramatic turn of events, Livingstone Member of Parliament Reverend Howard Sikwela has quit barley four months after being elected to force a second by-election in slightly over a year.
Zambezi Radio reports that Rev Sikwela has resigned from the UPND party with immediate effect.
Rev Sikwela was being courted by the ruling Patriotic Front for a position in the foreign service.
The clergyman won the position after a petition by PF’s Joseph Akafumba. Although Akafumba won the petition, he lost the election but was rewarded with a position in government as permanent secretary in the justice ministry.
This means there is going to be a by-election AGAIN.

You are just a PF cadre who does not understand what is happening at the top level. Do you think we in UPND just knew about this? We have known about this for sometime now. The resignation is PF driven as can be seen from the lame reason given by the so called reverend.

My freind stop thinking with your mouth. The Reverand has’nt sited PF as the reason for resigning. He has not defected but simply resigned. It’s now our duty as PF to invite him to the ruling party.

Zambia has got too much resources to waste because leaders from all walks of life are goondas and only care about themselves. How can this man do this to the people of Livingstone after entrusting him to represent them. What has changed in the last four months, if he had issues with his party, I’m sure they could have solved them using other available means. With all the money these chaps get they still want to waste public resources. They stink with selfishness of the worst kind! Reverend my ass!

On behalf of GRZ we are sori to inform you that we will still be unable to implement our ‘more money in your pockets promise’.this is due to the rampant disease affecting our great nation,MP resignation/defection. We ask for your patience as we need another term to eradicate all opposition so we can have one disfunctional cure consisting of selfish, greedy vampires.(Sori MPs)

HH and other opposition leaders do not blame PF for the resignations of your MPs! Show credible leadership to your members and they will be faithful to you.
We are getting tired of these by-elections. Your lack of leadership will result in a one party state, do not blame PF!

If only we had leaders who truly want to serve the people and not respect their financial interests in these positions,we would have less by-elections..as much as its a constitutional right to join any political party it doesn’t give them a license to change parties like underwear!though he has nt defected it shows his poor decision making!

January 5, 2013 at 8:33 am
the rev cited tribalism and the fact that he was sidelined.the problem is neither with the rev,pf nor upnd but with our constitution.a law shld be passed which shld allow the running mate to take over once someone resigned or died.so the solution is not in pointing fingers or insults but pushing for a provision in our supreme law.

Congratulations Sikwila. UPND is a regional Bantustan party led by a selfish person who had a very troubled up bringing. UPND thought they were going to spoil MMD’s chances in Mpongwe by also declaring that they are going to contest the seat aswell. Now, lets wait and see what will happen in Livingstone. Do you think MMD will let UPND contest with PF alone? No Way!!! Go MMD contest the seat as aswell. This is just the begining of the downfall of this Regional Bantustan party. Next to resign will be Gwembe. How can you surely stop someone from serving in Government. Shame on this party. The party leadership is in Panic mode. Go Go PF!!! The first PF seat is looming in southern province. Bantustans in Panic Mode.

Wow, what a drastic move to make man of God. I knew you were under pressure but not enough to resign.
UPND have brought this unto themselves. All that Sikwela said was that as member of parliament he had no choice but to work with the government in order to foster development in livingstone. All of a sudden he was being branded a PF cadre. How??? being sarmoned to kangaroo hearings. and am told william banda was given the assignment of harassing, intimidating and hounding him out.

WHEN MMD WAS IN POWER, THEY WERE MORE THAN HAPPY TO RECEIVE THOSE WHO RESIGNED FROM PF TO JOIN THEM. PF DID NOT DISCIPLINE THEIR MP’S FOR WORKING WITH MMD. REMEMBER THE RABEL PF MP’S? WHY SHOULD MMD AND UP ‘N Down PARTIES COMPLAIN NOW. MMD IS HAVING A TASTE OF IT’S OWN MEDICINE UNTIL SUCH A TIME WHEN POLITICAL DEMOCRACY IN ZAMBIA MATURES, THIS WILL BE THE ORDER OF THE DAY. DEMOCRACY AND DEMOCRATIC RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES, LIKE I SAID BEFORE COME WITH A HIGH PRICE TAG.

Dear Mr President,
May the ministers not be paid this month, let’s pile up every MPs salary and develop our universities, schools, roads, hospitals, etc.Zambia is sinking guys, ask us that visibly see how our copper is being stolen in broad day light at KCM,and now visit patients at nchanga south hospital where a dentist can’t even afford to put on a white clean clinic cot,but instead puts on an overall with gumboots like an uneducated cleaner,

These are what we call political prostitutes, chansers, political limpers. Let this MP go to hell. Very soon Zambia will be a one party state but we are not surprised because KK is the chief advisor to PF.
