The Ministry of Health says the claims by the research fellow that consumption of Soya causes cancers and could lead to homosexual tendenciescould could be false.
On Friday, UNZA research fellow Martin Sampa submitted to the Parliamentary Committee on Health that his research has shown that the country’s security and health profile are at risk partly due to the use of soya in foods.
But Chongwe District Hospital food technologist Yaled Sichivula said he does not have information on the adverse effects of soya.
“I don’t have any information as to whether it causes homosexual tendencies or early puberty in girls. I can’t comment on that because I really don’t know. If evidence is provided that it does that, then who am I to say no? Otherwise I can only tell you the nutritional part on what benefits one can derive from consuming soybean if properly treated,” Mr Sichivula said.
He said the soybean contains 30 to 35 percent proteins, 17 percent oil, and 31 percent carbohydrates, making it a good source of amino acids (basic units of proteins), which the body is unable to make on its own.
Mr Sichivula, however, cautioned that the soybean should not be consumed in its raw form.
“The key to the success of consuming soya is pre-heating the soybean, either through boiling or roasting, before it is milled or processed in any other form and added to other foods,” Mr Sichivula said.

it seems someone needs to go back to school and revisit his biology texts books, how can soya beans cause homosexual tendencies? who in his right mind would believe that madness? gay people are born the same way heterosexual people or any other sexual orientation there may be, people need to get there facts correct before they further embarrass themselves, ?how many people in this country have eaten soya beans yet are not gay?most of us when we where still children our parents prepared soya dishes like porridge in our meals yet we are still who we are, does that make us gay?or any less human?if he needed funding , he could have simply applied through the right channels, thank attempting to spearhead propaganda, especially in this time and age where one can simply Google information online, lets not be lied too

As a nutritionist i dont agree with this fellow. So we shoild stop giving malnourished children HEPS. He shud give us alternative to soya products. At soya leads homosexual tendences. So americans eat alot of soya. To hell with your research.

Be sure of yo selves b4 yo attracts critisms frm the general public. Wen u discover latest information on a certain product, consult frm the department involved b4 u mislead innocent pipo. Think of da challenge us implementing officers we will go through to convice pipo dat soya has no negative effect on health. If he said GMO Soya has negative effect on health maybe dat was going to make it clear. Anyway, he need to tell da world da source of his reaserch.

Learn to think on a higher level not at A level or GCSE levels. The world is more complicated than you think. It’s not all as it seems to be.
This has nothing to do with bad research by a Zambian researcher. Research as far back as 2000 in Japan did show that soya bean caused hormonal imbalance and led to excessive production of estrogen a female hormone. Dr Sampa (I assume as a researcher he is a PhD) is only alluding his findings to those that have been found in Japan, India and other countries previously.
The fact that you have not been affected does not mean there is no problem, different factors can affect different people in different ways.
What some readers of Tumfweko and people in Zed need to understand that you should not dismiss this lightly. Pro Soya lobbyists around the world are very strong and have financial interests and therefore will thwart anything which threatens the financial returns they enjoy/investments.
A question for those who responded in the negative: Had the research been produced by a Muzungu from a university in Durban say, would the reaction have been the same? I am convinced not.
Better safe than sorry- why was the UN Secretary General promoting homo sexuality on his tour of Africa a few years ago? . Learn to lift your thinking, ask definitive questions and learn to debate effectively.

That research fellow ‘s research findings must definitely be flawed. I would like to see what his sample was and where he conducted his research but i am sure this was not done in zambia because not a lot if any, do come out as openly gay in zed. So which sample did he use? monkeys? rats or did he do his research abroad say in america where he could get proper samples?
I mean if one has to do such kind of a reseach, he needs to have tested homosexuals and their tendencies to earing soybean as compared to the heterosexuals over a reasonably long period of time. I am 100% sure this was not done in zed because there was no way he could have come up with the needed sample for the research.
Is he himself Gay then and did this study on himself?

Disorder people are born that way. We can’t all the same sexual orientation just like we all. Can’t like the same color.
We have to accept our differences. Not force each other tobe. The same.

Can Mr. Sampa post his research paper online. its has serious implication. I know that untreated soya beans(roasted or boiled) may trigger some inhibitors and affects some enzymes. However, lets not crusify my tribesman before we read his research. if its true alot of companies that depend on soya for animal feed will go under. think of Zambeef with thier 500million USD EU loan, hybrid pourtely, twikatane farms and all the tutembas farms dotted around the country. So baSampa telwana luseka. I hope its not one of those researchers with a sole aim of climbing the graduation forum for the sake of a degree. we await to see you research paper.

Thanx a lot for your intellectual insight and objectivity! Its a pity most of Tumfweko bloggers are intellectually handicapped and their levels of reasoning is very terrifying especially on issues that are scientific, economic, demographic and legal!
If you bring an issue on sex, believe you me you will have more than 50 comments but on issues that are intellectual, goooshhhh!
Therefore, the research by Sampa should not just be dismised with contempt! For him to reach that conclusion, he conducted a lot of scientific experiments and these were monitored by distingished scholars! So relax mwebana bandoshi imwe! Mwabe fimitoto!

Well historically all genious brains like the Abbots of this world and the lightening man who discovered electricty were loughed at and thought to be mad. Even Noah in the bible was scoffed at as being out of his mind. That is how simple minds react to new phenomenon. Take time to read, contextualise and understand what is being said before you jump to silly comments like lunatics who lough even at themselves. Or is it really true that when you want to hide something from people like you, it has to be put in writing?

We do well to read the scholar’s sample site and population sample and what research design and for how long the research took place for us to critique Mr Sampa’s findings. So, researcher, avail us with these tools for us to comment wisely. I’ve eaten soya products for over 25 yrs I ve not experienced any such or similar tendencies.

The researcher just have a thing with soya beans farmers….Homosexuality is a mental disorder and not a nutritional disorder. So Mr Researcher I guess you are a Social Scientist and not a Biomedical Scientist,Biologist or Food scientist. If you are a Biomedical Scientist or Biologist go Back to the lab, extract the chemical from soya beans,do random tests on 1000 People, take note of how many will turn into homosexuals then we can talk and not just alarming people with factless data.
