Zambia Drops To 7th On FIFA Ranking

Zambia has dropped two places on the FIFA monthly ranking into seventh position in Africa and a further 12 steps on the world ranking following a disastrous outing to the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

By January, Zambia had dropped five places on the world ranking but maintained a constant fourth and fifth place since winning the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

The story, this time around, is different as Chipolopolo takes a down ride on the ladder which is still commanded by Ivory Coast. New African champions have made huge strides on the ranking going into fourth place.

Zambia was winless at the Africa Cup of Nations drawing with draws against lowly placed sides Ethiopia (1-all), Nigeria (1-all) and Burkina Faso (nil-all).

From 39th placing on the global chart, Zambia is now swinging on 47th position. Ivory Coast, Ghana, Mali, Nigeria, Algeria and Tunisia occupy the first six places before Chipolopolo.

True age has caught up with most of our players, as a matter of fact, their throughput has deteriorated drastically. Let’s desist from enganging tired legs and expect so much from them.

I have a brilliant Idea fellow country men. Let’s demolish Mwanawasa stadium and the one under construction in Lusaka so that we build bigger ones in readiness for 2019 Afcon. I thank you.

@KK I know you are joking, ha ha! but for the same reason Dagamashot Stadium (local spelling) in Ndola was demolished. It took 24 years to have a replacement – the Mwanawasa.
