Chipolopolo defender Stopilla Sunzu officially is back at TP Mazembe after a botched European move in the winter window.
Mazembe chairman Moses Katumbi says that Sunzu will however not take part in the clubs forthcoming 2013 CAF Champions League campaign.
“For now, he is free to come back here and play in the domestic league only since he wasn’t registered for the Champions League,” Katumbi said.
“It’s him to decide but we are waiting for offers for him.”
Sunzu and Mazembe have been engaged in a stand-off over the last fortnight over his status at the club following interest from English clubs Reading and Sunderland.
The defenders agents alleged that Sunzu was a free agent following the expiry of his three year contract after joining the DR Congo club in 2010.
However, Mazembe have insisted Sunzu still had a contract with them well into 2015.
“It is for this reason that we had a meeting with him on Saturday in the presence of his fiancée and his father and went through the contract with everybody again,” Katumbi said.
“And after that, everyone present, including the player himself, agreed that he still had a valid contract. Infact, we even paid him his latest salary after the meeting.”

the so called agent spoiled STOPPY’s chance of playing in Europe. sometimes in life it’s good to know clauses of the contract you sign. in the end it’s STOPPY who loses and the agent and katumbi have nothing, nothing, nothing to lose.
