DEC Nabs 4 Somalians And A Zambian For Drug Trafficking

The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) on the Copperbelt has arrested four Somali national and a Zambian for trafficking in Miraa.

Hawa Maxmed Uli a female Somali national aged 34 residing in Ndola was arrested and jointly charged with Charles Kabungo Lesa, a Zambian national also of Ndola for trafficking in 33 bundles of miraa weighing 25 kilograms concealed in a Toyota Spacio which has since been seized by the commission.

DEC deputy public relations officer Theresa Katongo in a statement to QFM says Ms Maxmed Uli was earlier this month arrested for a similar offence involving 27 bundles of miraa weighing 12.7kg in which the Ndola Magistrate court on 11th February 2013, convicted and fined her KR2, 000 in default 6 months Imprisonment with Hard Labour.

Ms. Katongo says the commission has also arrested and jointly charged three male Somali nationals, Hassan Yusuf 22, Abdunkadia Isa 25 and Saidi Ali, all of Ndola for trafficking in 4 bundles of miraa weighing 3.8 kilograms.

And the Commission has in the last one week arrested more than 30 people countrywide for trafficking in various quantities of illicit drugs.

She says all the suspects will appear in court soon.
Ms. Katongo has since cautioned Zambians and foreign nationals to desist from engaging in illicit activities such as drug-trafficking and money laundering.

    Wow! You fine a person KR2m when the drugs she sells is beyond KR2bn? Jocks in the highest! I wish we were in china: Shoot the foreign drug dealers a day after the arest!

    Actually picaso, you seem to be looking at life from a small hole. Look at it in gestalt! Its not just that which they found on them. These buddies of yours bring is containers of drugs. I know you know this.
