HH Arrested For Murder
United Party for National Development(UPND)leader Hakainde Hichilemahas been arrested and detained at Livingstone Central Police Station.
This is in connection with the death of PF member Henry Chanda who died in a violent clash involving PF and UPND cadres in Livingstone last evening.
Two parliamentarians, Garry Nkombo of Mazabuka and Request Muntanga of Kalomo central were also arrested last evening together with other party officials in connection with the same.
Mr. Hichilema who was reportedly wanted by the police was arrested this afternoon at around 15:30 hours.
The UPND leader confirmed his arrest to QFM in a telephone interview from the Police Station in Livingstone.
Mr. Hichilema has described his arrest as brutality of the highest order.
He says he is surprised as to why he is being linked to the death of the PF member when he was on a live radio interview the time the clashes took place.
There Livingstone parliamentary by-election campaigns have so far claimed the lives of two Patriotic Front members, with several cadres of the two main competing parties sustaining injuries.

Do cadres wear name tags when they go on the streets to campaign? If not, then it would be not right to link the death of Mr. Chanda to tribal hate. Any other person from any party could have died and not necessarily Bemba. MHSRIEP.
People pls lets not be too simplistic in our reasoning. If the comments in these media are a true reflection of Zambian mentality, then we still have some work to do. Insults and name calling will not resolve our problems.

I need to break my silence with the following questions. 1. Which party participated in mapatizya and gave us the most violent by-election in living memory-UPND. 2. Why is it that if MMD and Pf are contesting any election, there’s never any violence, just minor incidences. 3. Why is it that upnd is always a common denominator in all election violence? 4. Which party recruited the most violent cadre in our history (tekere) and made presidential advisor? 5. Which party, in full view of everyone and with impunity hit a policeman with a brick at the back of head causin blood to be gashing out like a tap? 6. Which party whose cardre grabbed a journalist by the throat and nearly chocked him to death at a police station?. My advice to govt is, compile all these issues including the numerous ones i’ve left, with video evidence take them to the common wealth and embassies of our corperating partners and explain to them that this bunch of idiotic cockroaches called UPND have got an established violent reputation thats why police wont give them permits to gather.
