LONG-SERVING Zambia Soccer Fans Association (ZSFA) patron Peter Makembo has with immediate effect resigned his position.
Makembo said in a statement released in Lusaka yesterday that he has resigned his position at ZSFA to join the newly-formed Zambia Sports Fans Association (ZSPOFA).

He said the main aim of joining ZSPOFA is to extend the same support that he has been offering to soccer to other sports disciplines throughout the country.
He said the formation of ZSPOFA will supplement the effort of sports bodies and the government in uplifting the standards of general sport in the country.
“With immediate effect from February 22, 2013 as per certificate of registration with PACRA, we will be operating as Zambia Sports Fans Association.
“This means that I Pastor Peter Makembo has with immediate effect resigned from Zambia Soccer Fans Association to become a member of Zambia Sports Fans Association,” Makembo said.
He said joining ZSPOFA will enable him congregate beyond supporting soccer only but other sports disciplines as well.
The former Lusaka Tigers and City of Lusaka defender said the new association will also extend its support to events like traditional ceremonies.
“So our supporting machinery will be found everywhere just like we do with soccer, the best example is the last Zone Six Games which lacked major support,” the clergyman said.
The ZSFA was previously called Zambia Voluntary Soccer Fans Association until its change of name recently.
