Namulambe Declared Winner

Ruling Patriotic Front candidate Gabriel Namulambe has been declared winner of the Mpongwe Parliamentary by-election.

Returning office Joachim Mangwane declared Mr Namulambe the winner after polling 4, 600 against his closest opponent Rabson Chilufya of the UPND who polled 3,069 votes.

Mr. Namulambe retains the seat he held under the MMD.
Mr Mangwane announced the official election results at around 11: hours this morning.

In the third position was MMD candidate Miniver Mutesa who polled 901 votes with NAREP candidate Reagan Ndhlovu collecting 588 votes.

UNIP candidate Kenny Kuveya trailed behind with 110 votes.

Mpongwe has 48 polling stations and the election was marred by voter apathy.

And MMD Mafinga Member of Parliament Catherine Namugala says the former ruling party’s third place finish in the Mpongwe by-election is due to poor leadership.

Ms Namugala said this in Parliament today when she congratulated the PF for winning the by-election.

Meanwhile the ruling PF has scooped the Basanga ward in Itezhi-tezhi and the Lambwe ward in Namwala by-elections respectively.

The Basanga ward election the PF candidate polled 542

I wonder what difference it makes voting Namulambe under MMD and Namulambe under PF. Politics of the belly pa Zed. I would have loved PF to adopt those MPs who would bring the flavour instead of the old guys. All i see here is PF winning and not Namulambe.

@ Timbwi you are right. Politics of the Belly indeed. Its such a shame that PF can be discarding Real PF members like Given Lubinda and allowing criminals like Namulambe in the Party. I am a long serving PF member and i am not happy about the Kind of people PF is adopting these days. We do not want Namulambe

Before we go about congratulating this or that winner, why are we not asking how a constituency with over 34,000 voters had a voter turnout of less than 10,000? I think there is a a clear message from Mpongwe here.

IT’S CALLED STRATEGY. THE MORE PF MEMBERS THERE ARE IN PARLIAMENT THE EASIER IT IS TO PASS BILLS AND NO PARTY WILL HIJACK THE PF DEVELOPMENT AGENDA

to avoid the so called unwarranted byelections let us put in place a constitution which will guide all of us without fear or favour otherwise we shall be crying foul all the time.i totally blame the MMD for failing to have given us a better constitution.
To the PF leadership pliz give us a good contitution taking into concideration interests of zambians at heart.purely this will give you massive votes in 2016.
