The Zambia Amateur Athletics Association (ZAAA) has one week in which to raise funds to buy air tickets for the participants in the youth track and field championships slated for Nigeria on March 28
ZAAA official Davison Mung’ambata has since made a passionate appeal to co-operating partners to come on board and contribute air tickets for the Zambian team which is scheduled to leave for Nigeria next week.
Mung’ambata said that ZAAA, despite the air ticket hitch, has prepared a formidable team capable of minting medals at the first ever youth track and field athletics Championship.
“The Nigerian Championship will be the first of its kind to be hosted at youth level and ZAAA intends to put in serious measures so that the team can reap more medals, “said Mung’ambata.
He said that for many years there had been no track and field championships for youths in Africa and the forthcoming Nigerian event was meant to encourage the youths explore their talents in sports.
He said ZAAA has maintained youth tournaments on its yearly calendar because senior teams use it for tapping talent.
“ZAAA has for over 10 years maintained youth tournaments on their yearly programs for the benefit of the senior teams for continental engagements “he said.
Zambia will be among the few first countries to compete at the first youth championship.
