8 Bandits Gang Rápé Lusaka Woman As Hubby Watches Helplessly

A TWENTY-THREE-YEAR-OLD woman of Chawama Township in Lusaka is nursing injuries sustained after she was gang-rápéd by eight bandits in the presence of her husband.

The sordid incident happened when the bandits broke into the couple’s home near York Farm at midnight. The woman was later admitted to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH).

The woman, whose identity has been withheld for ethical reasons, met her fate when the robbers, armed with an AK-47 rifle and two pistols broke into the house and forced themselves on the woman within a space of minutes.

Both her husband and police spokesperson, Elizabeth Kanjela confirmed in separate interviews that the bandits raided the couple’s home on Thursday midnight before they in vain forced the husband to have sex with his wife.

”I heard people climbing the fence and I decided to wake up and check what was happening and it was at this point that I heard a gunshot and I knew they were thieves.

”When they entered the house, they forced me to have sex with my wife while they watched but I refused and then they started taking turns on my wife – number one, number two and number three until they finished while I was watching,” the shaken husband said in an exclusive interview.

He said he took the wife to UTH the following morning on Friday where she was treated and discharged before being taken to her aunt where she was now recuperating.

The bandits are also said to have broken into one of the nearest Chinese companies where they walked away with KR10,000 (K10 million) cash and some laptop computers.

Ms Kanjela said police had launched a manhunt after the incidents and appealed to members of the public to help police officers with information that may lead to the arrest of the criminals.

”Yes we had a case of rápé by criminals on house number 21440M on Thursday where eight bandits rápéd the woman while the husband was watching,” she said.

”So far no arrest has been made but we are appealing to the general public to help us bring these criminals to book because that was a barbaric act.”

Meanwhile, a 48-year-old woman of Kalenga Farms in Kitwe on the Copperbelt has been killed by her 57-year-old husband who suspected her to be in an extramarital affair.

Peter Sayenge, who has since disappeared, allegedly beat to death his wife, Loveness Machai on Friday around 05:00 hours after he accused her of seeing another man.

Machai’s death, which occurred on the day when the country joined the rest of the world in commemorating Women’s Day, is the latest of the gender-based violence experienced in the country in the recent past.

Ms Kanjela, who confirmed the killing, said the woman died on the spot and her body was in Kitwe Central Hospital mortuary awaiting a postmortem.

“No arrest has been made as the suspect is on the run. We are, therefore, appealing to members of the public to assist with any information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect,” Ms Kanjela said.
And three people have died in three separate road accidents in Central, Eastern and Luapula provinces.

Ms Kanjela said a woman, Hena Chibaya of Lusaka died on the spot when a Toyota Noah, registration number ALE 164 driven by Janet Chibaya of Lusaka’s Chunga Township, overturned along Munganama Road around 17:30 hours due to speeding.

Hena, who was a passenger, died on the spot while three other passengers, also from Lusaka, sustained serious injuries in the accident and are currently admitted to Kabwe General Hospital.

The driver has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving contrary to the laws of Zambia and will appear in court soon.

In Eastern Province, Mulenga Chipasha died after jumping off a moving vehicle around 19:00 hours at Magodi Village in Chief Saili’s area along Magodi Jere gravel road.

The incident, which occurred on Friday around 19:00 hours, saw Chipasha jump off the Mitsubishi Canter, registration number ABA 6387 which was being driven by Timothy Nyirenda, 36, of Mthila Nsembe Township in Chipata.

Ms Kanjela said the victim sustained fatal injuries and died on the way to Vizenge Rural Health Centre where the body is in the mortuary.
In Luapula Province, Kalonda Nkulimba, aged 44, of Chapu Village in Chiengi District, died on the spot after being hit by a motor bike.
The accident occurred on Friday around 18:00 hours at Mwabu Village in Chief Puta’s area along Lupiya-Chiengi Road.

Extreme shock, untold anger, confusion, deep sadness and rejection are some of the feelings experienced by the couple and normal human beings who have read this story.
My own defination of the word “normal” does not cover people talking about HH and those making fun of the declaration of Zambia as a Christian nation. Shame on you.

‘Give it to me’ this is indeed a heavy load to carry, and at worst, for the rest of the couple’s days on earth. But it’s not the ladies fault only God knows how to heal.
I can only equate this experience to loss of spouse to death.
