Rupiah Banda Appears Before DEC

Former republican president Rupiah Banda has appeared for questioning before the government joint investigations team at the Drug Enforcement Commission offices.

Mr. Banda arrived at the DEC offices at around 10:25 hrs with his private administrative secretary Mikatazo Wakumelo and MMD president Nevers Mumba.

The former head of state walked with cadres from the UPND and the MMD from Ridgeway post office to the DEC offices after the cadres that surrounded Mr. Banda’s car demanded to accompany him.

There were near clashes between the police, who were in full riot gear and cadres when the police denied the cadres entry in the DEC offices.

Mr. Banda is being represented by his lawyer, Sakwiba Sikota from the Central Chambers, who arrived at the DEC offices around 9hrs.

MMD vice president for politics, Brian Chituwo, deputy national secretary Chembe Nyangu, former mines minister Maxwell Mwale and former transport and communications minister Geofrey Lungwangwa were also present but were denied entry in the offices.

Other senior party officials and some members of the opposition were also present to give solidarity support.

Politics and politicians, I have seen enough of these cases come and go without yielding any positive results apart from people like sakwiba and co. Who get huge pay for services .

How come Sakwiba Sikota represents ALL politicians facing corruption cases? I see a lucrative venture there.

RB should be made to pay every single coin his long hand pilfered in the Treasury.
The country was close to bankrupcy under the corrupt MMD leadership.

Hoping the drive is to get back a huge % of the loot to Zambians & 30% to Sakwiba. I see Sakwiba becoming the richest lawyer out of these politicians. That is BRAINS Saki!

@ supporters foolish cadres do you know why you are always a cadre come rain come sun shine you are a cadre you cant even find a piece work you thats why many Zambians are living in poverty they involve themselves in many demonstrations, how many hours did you spend that particular day singing and chanting useless slogans for thieves in the name of solidarity. Think twice b4 you get into something please find some thing to do to feed your family and yourselves thats why we have alot of street children their parents are ever busy making useless demos without thinking wicked people change your behaviour.

Stealing is very bad even in the bible its not allowed. A gud leader shud lead by gud examples. If the ‘Head of State’ is stealing openly & giving some of the loot to his sons, what do u expect frm the Ministers surrounding him? LET JUSTICE PREVAIL
