From part two
This was said after the Speaker made some consultations with undisclosed legal pundits in Zambia but the opposition MP’s chose to defy all this by leaving parliament, some of which raised their middle fingers to register their displeasure against the decision.
We wonder what is between the opposition and RB! The opposition just showed us that they are worthless because even if they were right in their reasoning’s, civilized and well brought up people know that two wrongs don’t make a right! Instead of walking out of parliament and insulting journalists, the speaker and those people of Zambia that supported the lifting of RB’s immunity all they should have done was to stay put and vote against the motion.
Even if after voting against it, it went through at least their role as opposition would have been played peacefully and maturely. With the third reasoning, it is important for the ruling Patriotic Front to know that Zambians and Zambia went through a lot of trouble to attain the democratic system we are enjoying today and this system can never be bought. Some countries are envying the democracy we have in our country and no single person should be allowed to play with it.
Our respect goes to Dr KK for willingly surrendering power to MMD when he was voted out. We salute and appreciate Rupiah Banda for the peaceful handover of power to the PF after defeat. The PF and everyone should know that these historical transitions happened because of the multi-party system existing in our country and if the PF is destroying it, we don’t need them in power.
Nevertheless, this cannot rule out the lifting of RB’s immunity as this can be fought using the right channels and not preventing a former head of state from being made accountable to the allegations made against him. In any case, there is need for everyone especially those holding public office to know that they are not working for themselves or their families and friends.
And on the forth reasoning, we agree with the opposition. Michael Sata has rotten and corrupt individuals on his cabinet who are in court while some have even refused to appear before the investigative wings including the Justice Minister who presented the motion of the immunity. Sata himself is to blame for this because he is allowing it and the motive of lifting RB’s immunity is indeed questionable!
The firth reasoning bring us to the words of Professor Nkandu Luo during the lifting of Mr. Rupiah Banda’s immunity that “We are sending a warning to everyone that when you hold a public office which is entrusted on you by the people of Zambia, you should not abuse it at their expense.
We hold these offices for Zambians not for us or our families,” As the message is clear we agree with the opposition to have the immunity of a head of state automatically removed once they leave office. Accountability is imperative and it should be done always whether there are accusations or not. It is important to do so because we know that people get so excited with power such that they forget that they hold those positions for the people.
Indeed Michael and every other person who will hold the presidency need to have their immunity lifted automatically when they leave office! The sixth reason is the most brainless and idiotic reasoning the opposition had and to them it appeared to be the strongest argument. It is clear RB abused office.

RB, whose management of the People’s resources was highly wanting now stands a chance to clear his name. Even our current servant MCS, must expect the same treatment together with any of his colleagues, should serious issues arise over their performance.
