From part one
The forth reason was that the PF government has among its cabinet persons who are allegedly corrupt but are on no account prosecuted while they are holding the most important positions in the country and that some are facing serious court trials for committing serious offenses ranging from money laundering, forgery and corruption; but such person have never been prosecuted, how genuine is the lifting of RB’s immunity so that he could be made accountable?
The firth reason was that instead of debating the removal of a former head of state’s immunity while they are out of office; why not put in place a law in the constitution that removes the immunity of a president automatically after they leaves office?
The last sixth and most important reason of the opposition MMD and UPND was that there were no strong cases that were brought before parliament implicating RB as was the case with the later Chiluba.
First of all I do not agree with the first reason by the opposition not to have Rupiah Banda made accountable to the allegations presented by Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba and I believe that many sane persons will agree with me that Justice is priceless. For an underdeveloped country like Zambia we are not looking at the immediate after math of RB’s investigations and prosecutions.
We are looking at the future of Zambia 30 years from now when people like Mumba, HH, Gary Nkombo, Siliya, Kaingu and all elderly fellers in parliament will leave this country to the responsibility of youths.
We are not troubled about how much money the country will spend in both investigations and court trials, we are fretful to how straightforward those who rule us are and in this case we are concerned about the buying of shoes worth USD$ 30000, the buying of MMD branded sweets, bulbs, under wears at a cost of USD$ 60,000 etc all for campaign.
We are concerned about the offshore accounts in Si ngapore allegedly belonging to Rupiah’s sons where monies that allegedly belong to the Zambian coffers where going during their tenure. We are interested to know how RB and the MMD managed to brand Zambia with MMD trademark.
And we demand those representing us, whether in opposition or ruling party to be concerned of these essentials. Viva for lifting Rupiah Bwezani Banda’s immunity! The second reasoning of the opposition was faced with a technical challenge by the Speaker of National Assembly Patrick Matibini that there are definite issues which can be discussed or debated on even when they are before the court.
And in his civility the speaker made it clear that if in case any anyone felt that by allowing the motion to be presented, he was violating any law there are measures which can be taken by the aggrieved parties which is going to court and he urged those opposing to take the step to court if they felt distressed.

Useless article by useful *****. What are you telling us about those in power accused of corruption who have been silently cleared by ACC? How about people like Namulambe whose cases have been cleared by govt because they have joined PF? We have no problems lifting RB’s immunity only if the law is applied equally.

Fret not Zambians! RB must notgo scot free (that if he stole) just because those in power are shielded. We shall get our moneys when their time comes. Presently, it RB’s time.

if RB’s hands are clean, then there is nothing to worry about. just let him go to court and prove himself innocent… ‘if at all he is’

I just want to comment on this priest called Father Chilinda of st Ignicious, which people does he stand for maybe fictitious ones. Why is he blaming MPs who voted for the removal of RB’s immunity as well as the motion mover.Does he think we should remove all our laws and just forgive a criminal as by his comparison to Jesus’ actions to that woman in the bible, maybe he should try to read the script twice and understand what Jesus was trying to teach us.
